I forgot about the Elements and Black Forest... I own both and they fill this role pretty well. I actually use the Black Forest as a synth preamp and then slam it with a Mini or an Elements

Re: Is there such a thing....
Yeah Ive been using the Forest for this, but I want to go back to using it as a high gain dirt in conjunction with other fuzzes, pkus im an asshole and I want more eq options than are ever necessary.
As much as I want a PYears, I'm probably never going to be able to afford to get one down here.
Thats actually a decent price, Mr Lasombres, but no way can orange justify that retail price.

I don't think there is an official explanation of the term. Probably something like Frequency Adjustment Control. Its just a series of caps that allow you to alter the input capacitance of the amplifier thus emphasizing treble or bass frequencies.drolo wrote:sorry but what does FAC mean ?

I find it useful in a fuzz or dirt in general but in an EQ you have the bass control already to deal with the chugga :-)

Are EQ pedals actually worth giving up a pedal space? I recently thought about taking off my Dittox2 in place of a EQ pedal between my 2 dirts. What yall say?

FAC is on the front end of an Orange/Matamp preamp. The EQ is after a few gain stages I believe. So one shapes the texture of the gain and the other shapes the overall tone.drolo wrote:I find it useful in a fuzz or dirt in general but in an EQ you have the bass control already to deal with the chugga :-)

I find them quite useful after dirt, especially fuzz as they allow you to change the sound drastically. I recently built myself a double eq pedal (incidentally a 3-band bax) because I was constantly bowing down to go from scooped to boosted mids :-)sergiomunoz74 wrote:Are EQ pedals actually worth giving up a pedal space? In the spirit of my recent effort posting I just want to say you can all go FAC yourselves
Sometimes I think I want an old Graphic Fuzz again, because that sounded awesome boosted. I don't know if it's worth the space but then you at least have some OD in your EQ

Re: Is there such a thing....
That actually sounds really fun, I wonder how an eq would effect my pedals. I really like the idea of getting radically different tones, currently I use an even anguish and rat. I really like the rat for more heavy distortion/fuzz and the even anguish as an fuzzy OD. The only problem is that the Rat is really really dark and stacking the rat on a lower od setting plus the even anguish together are much too harsh. Having something to balance it out would be nice for stacking and brightening up mah rat.drolo wrote:I find them quite useful after dirt, especially fuzz as they allow you to change the sound drastically. I'm interested in your double EQ think, mind if I send you a PM?
