Vintage Looking Guitars?

Alright, so after finals next week I'm planning to go back to work during the Summer, and I have a pretty big list of gear I want to buy. I already have a list of pedals (mainly fuzz!), an amp (Orange Thunder 30, or a '59 Bassman, or a used AD30 if I find one), and a 212 (if I get a head).

The only thing I haven't decided on is a guitar. I'm looking for something vintage looking made by a modern company. So far I've only found these: http://www.reverendguitars.com/, http://www.eastwoodguitars.com/, and http://harmonyguitars.com/. My budget's probably going to be a little under $1200.00. I was digging the Reverend Sensei, the Eastwood Supro DualTone, and the Harmony Stratotone Jupiter, but I want to see all my options first.

If you guys could throw out any company names that make some old school looking guitars that would be great! Or if you've had any experience with any of these brands I'd appreciate if you could let me know how you liked them.

Yeah, there are way too many options. Hopefully I can get a chance to try them all though, last thing I want is to drop that much cash and get buyer's remorse.

For $1200, why don't you get a proper vintage guitar instead of vintage looking but made in China? Especially if you're into those Harmonys, you can get those for well under a grand.
Last Stratotone I saw on CL went for $500.

i would mos def look for a vintage Harmony.

i own a few eastwood Airlines and they're very fine guitars for the money, however my vintage harmony's are much more vibey and i'd much rather play those. Harmony Rockets are bad ass IMO.
that being said....my latest guitar was the eastwood airline Folkster resonator, bought last month...loved for one month and the airline broke the neck...eastwood is sending me another neck free of charge.
can't complain about that at all.

Yeah, for the money I'd either buy an actual vintage guitar or a nice new guitar and vintage it up the old fashioned way (with time and lots of playing. ) I LOVE old Harmony's. Still plenty of 'em around too.

You could get 2 or 3 vintage harmonies for that price.

I picked one of these up a few years ago and really dig it... a Vox Phantom copy from Phantom Guitar Works. They make copies of all the old vox guitars but apparently have updated some parts to improve playability. Never played an original so I can't verify, only what I've read. Fit and finish is excellent and it plays like a dream. Think they start around $700. http://www.phantomguitars.com/index.html

Well I won't have the money for a few weeks, and it seems as though whenever I have money, there's nothing good on CL. Right now there are some nice guitars up. I saw a nice Teisco, a Harmony Rocket, and a few others for pretty cheap, let's just hope they're still there when I'm looking for them!

So I guess I'll be on the hunt for some originals then because it looks like I might be able to score a few of them like you guys said. If not, I really want to give a Reverend Manta Ray 290 a try.
