Just took my mixer apart. There are definitely some bad, leaking, lifted caps in there. Which is good, cause if I get that fixed, I might be able to save on some other gear.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I've been really craving a strat for a while now. Anyone able to point me at any model that is the best value? My main guitar is a parts jagmaster thing, which I dig but it has some minor oddities from my piecing it together. That has led me to really want a standard, everything works well together, type of deal. My heart is leaning towards an american special or american professional, but I'm way out of my element here. American professional would be the absolute top of my budget, even that is a serious stretch.
What say you? What strat do I want?

I have a fondness for late 90's MIM strats, and this one came up in a search the other day, but I'm not sure where you're going with the Stratness (any way you want it).PeteeBee wrote:I've been really craving a strat for a while now. Also similar-era Strats are in the $500 range, have a matte neck, & are generally well built (at least in my experience - 2000 & on is a little iffy/choose your own adventure).

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I'll second a MIM. Theyre built well and sound great, especially with new pickups. Highway ones are great too and MIA, but I think the frets they used are a bit too big, especially for a strat. I know they revamped the line in 2006 though, so maybe that was addressed thereafter. You can tell the difference by the headstock; pre 2006 have small modern-style, post have large CBS-style.PeteeBee wrote:I've been really craving a strat for a while now. I can't believe how clean that is! I'll dig around for one from this era. I definitely want a matte neck. Sticky necks make me uncomfortablecoupleonapkins wrote:I have a fondness for late 90's MIM strats, and this one came up in a search the other day, but I'm not sure where you're going with the Stratness (any way you want it).PeteeBee wrote:I've been really craving a strat for a while now. Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
My mind is continuously looping "I need a new amp, maybe a bassbreaker 45? No, maybe a nice PA so I can hook in synths/drum machines too. But a PA isn't as fun as an amp, and I never play out though, so maybe something smaller than the 45? But I want the proper Bassman circuit toanz... but I still never play out, so I should just save the money and pay bills. But I really want an amp, or maybe a PA..."

Let's see how modulargrid does at this:

Maybe someday....probably way too many pedals though.

Oh that's pretty cool. I don't think too many pedals will be an issue since a lot of stuff is added by the community. Cool to see them embrace this though.

Got that E-mail too. On the phone now. Was there a sound clip embedded? Or was the teaser the picture?

I'm pretty sure it's an Incinerator re-issue. I still want to get my old big box back.
