So I started experimenting with my KORG MS-20 mini, a bright LED and a photo diode. Because the LED worked really fine with the voltage from the synth's LFO or the control wheel output (receiving up to 2.5V to 5.0V this way), I also tried the MS-20's S&H with pink noise as the source. And that was my main goal: making the S&H randomly light up the LED so the photo diode can make the L.A.L. 86 produce random oscillation noise.
It didn't work. With the pink noise driven S&H alone the LED didn't light up a bit - no wonder! It was very frustrating for me to see that the pink noise (and white noise has less effect) affects the S&H in a way that it drops or raises the voltage by 0.2V only, or something in that range. Boo-urns!
So my question is: is there a nice S&H generator that produces 0 to 2.5V or even 5.0V? Is there maybe already some combination with an opto-coupler so I can instantly use it with effects or synths that can be used with a variable resistor (expression pedal)? Thanks for your suggestions!
