Best Reverb?

Post by Tunelowplayslow »

Hey all, just wondering if anyone has advice on reverbs. They all tend to be pricey, and I love what I've heard from Earthquaker; if you have experience with the Levitation, Ghost Echo, Afterneath etc. I'd love to hear from you!

I like the Mellowtone Dunk Tank. :idk:
It's a nice little Belton reverb.

Afterneath gets weird in good ways. Although I've been using it less lately.

My bandmates both play Ghost Echo verbs and I have no complaints.

I play a Boss RV-2, Boss RV-3, and a Blackout Cadavernous (way into the swell feature it provides).

I've had a Ghost Echo on my board for years now - not played a ton of others, but felt no need to. FWIW I liked it a lot better than the TC Trinity, a little more than the RRR, and it's better than my amp reverb (which is an actual spring reverb?).

Having said that, a huge modulated reverb is absolutely on my short list right now....likely a Supermoon or Bitquest.

I keep trying over verbs and keep coming back to the RV-3... RRR is a close second... I'm probably the only person that was underwhelmed by the Ghost Echo, but I'd like to try the Levitation...

I have a few reverb pedals.
EQD Ghost Echo
EQD Afterneath
Blackout Effectors Cadavernous
Boss RV-2
Boss RV-3

I feel like I should be doing some demos. Power for the people.

Levitation and Afterneath are great but I always keep going back to the Ghost Echo. It's the most natural sounding reverb I've ever used. Matt uses a Caroline.... Meteore maybe? I can't remember the model... it's either that or the Kilobyte. One is a delay, the other a reverb, but anyway... his clean tone with reverb is the best I've ever heard. Those are worth checking out. If I had extra money I'd get one but I doubt I'd use the extra features on it and go back to the Ghost Echo eventually.

I'd really like to get another Trinity.
Even if you didn't like any of the on board verbs, the Tone Print and editing software really opened shit up.
RV3s are very nice, too.

YES. Can the Afterneath do Supermoon style things?

Extremely hard to beat the Ghost Echo for regular verb, I think. Plus mine oscillates, so that's pretty cool too.

Idunno...might be a good idea. Did you make your own toneprint, or are the available ones rad on their own?

There are a heap of ready made rad ones.
I did make one that did some creepy background pitchy, flangey wobble thing, that was kinda cool.

no clue. it's pretty cool though. and it has 6-knobs that can help make weird noise.

Another bang on the drum for the Ghost Echo. It's not the superfreakiest of the bunch but it rules.
