New Guitar Build
After the death of my Telecaster, I am going to build a new guitar. I'm using wood from my dad's land, so likely Honey Locust and Osage Orange. I want a single pickup, a tremolo, and I am buying the neck.
Body shape options:
Double cutaway Telecaster
Duo Sonic
Double cutaway Les Paul Jr.
Supersonic/ upside down Jazzmaster
USA Reverend
Pickup options:
P-90
Jazzmaster bridge
Tremolo:
Jazzmaster
Bigsby
Stratocaster
Any thoughts?

Re: New Guitar Build
Gonna be bridge or neck pickup? I could have a single p90 in the neck and want for nothing.
I say duo-sonic with neck p90 and jazzy trem.

I'm leaning towards a bridge pickup but about an inch from the bridge. I'm fond of the Jazzmaster bridge.

may have some spare squier jazzmaster parts if you want some stuff on the cheaper (neck, bridge, tremolo/tremolo arm, pickups and pickguard)

I'm probably two months out from being able to start, but a lot of those things, especially the neck and tremolo, would be perfect.odontophobia wrote:may have some spare squier jazzmaster parts if you want some stuff on the cheaper (neck, bridge, tremolo/tremolo arm, pickups and pickguard)

Re: New Guitar Build
Jazzmaster neck and bridge... Spicy P-90 pickup... Not sure about the body yet. Something like a Rickenbacker 620 might be cool.

Yeah. I've got wood and my dad's workshop. He lives on a couple of acres, so there's tons of quality wood. He has some Osage Orange and Honey Locust aging for me. I just need to make up templates.JonnyAngle wrote:Can you make your own body?

Re: New Guitar Build
You've made a list of all my favourite body shapes. A 620 being the #1, I would love to see that. I may have a spare 24" neck lying around too if you decide to go shortscale in the end.

No luck finding a 620 template. Might try my hand at Photoshopping one. Until then, a non-reverse Firebird is in the lead.

Re: New Guitar Build
After playing with templates, I figured out the RD Artist shape. Being a huge U2 and Ghost fan, I am going in this direction. I'm leaning towards a pair of humbuckers, but I am definitely putting a Tune O Matic and Jazzmaster tremolo on it.
