Started binge watching The Office.
I just realized, Michael Scott looks just like my old boss.
Like, it's uncanny.

The thinning hair. The face.
It explains why I hate him so much.

It's like, here's some angry people talking about social justice in between awkward sex scenes and people arguing. :whateva:
I decided I'm going to pretend I like this show without watching it. Just based on stills I deduced that it was exactly as you described it so I don't want to waste my time watching it (that's what ILF is for) but I don't want to be one of those people 'too afraid' to confront their inner whatever the fuck or some shit.

Omg I just watched DEAR WHITE PEOPLE and really enjoyed it! It's less about social justice (which was disappointing) and more about young people finding themselves (albeit I'm not that much older). Of the two episodes I saw, the social justice thing is really contrived. Seems very manufactured. Like that scene where Gabe walks out of the TV Show viewing get together and says some shit about feeling like an outcast...even though nothing happened...absolutely nothing beyond basic xenophobia. Unless I missed something? Anyway, watching that the rest of this evening!

Yeah, I guess that's why I found it so boring. The social justice and racism parts just didn't really pass the suspension of disbelief barrier, for me (outside of the confrontation with the cop at the party, that is).

Everyone was being awkward around him and Sam was embarrassed about it. Then Reggie's confrontation just made it clear that he was "that white dude" in a group of black people. I think that's how the scene went, I've gone through probably five other shows since I watched it  .

Gabe obviously did not get the memo this is how you are supposed to act in that situation. (The last 20 seconds pretty much depicts me in any situation)

The further along I get through The Office, the more I realize how much I hate Steve Carell.

To be totally honest he is the worst part of that show.
I mean, not actually him, just his character.
I absolutely love Jim and Dwight (spoilers):

YES.
Dwight's affair is the best thing ever.
Also, the parts where Jim makes Dwight look completely fucking insane.

And the pepper spray part.

And all the shit about bears.

Literally, all that needed to be done was completely change Steve Carell's character and I might've considered this show nearly as good as Parks and Rec.

Steve Carell is not even half as annoying-cringey as Ricky Gervais in the original...

Again, I fully agree. As much as I love Ricky Gervais, some of his characters are FAR too cringe worthy.

I just found the bloopers and it makes Carell's character seem so much better.

This is why I'll never watch the American version. That gut-wrenching level of awkward just isn't there in the American version.
