I didn't say anything about you prefering the sound of the brute's filter, just that the sequencing and patch memories are in my opinion big advantages of the Korg (Monologue, the Minilogue is a poly so a different beast).

"In my opinion" being the key words
Not to drag it out, but it's kinda like saying an active bass with a 3 band eq is better than a passive bass with a simple tonestack, but we all know it isn't that simple.

Bumping to say I got a used Microbrute

It'll arrive next week.

I've spent a large portion of the day reading about synth and even modular stuff ...

And watched I Dream of Wires...

I have a feeling the Brute will be a gateway drug.

Microbrute was a feeler for me to see if I wanted to go further...yuuuuuuup.

Sold the Brute a few weeks ago and now I have a Kilpatrick Phenol and BeatStep Pro. I am going to learn modular synthesis and sequencing with these two devices and then sometime in the Fall I'll likely go the Euro/Case route. But it will be a very slow process. To get a full voiced 6U case...prob $3-3,500...honestly, it'd probably take me a good year or more to fill it. But, I'm excited to learn in baby steps.

It's been so fun thus far.

Has anyone used the Korg Volca Keys? It looks pretty cool, and used its borderline inexpensive.

Haven't tried either but if I wanted one I'd look at the volca FM first.

That's where I'm at as well. Looks like fun

Volca FM is insanely cool. It's become my main synth until an OP-1 gets ordered. Even the indepth parameter editing is quite and intuitive. The FM and the Kick are in a league of their own.
