Holy craps-
I just hacked my 856 to spit out a trigger voltage. I clocked a drum machine with it.

It was really easy, too. I'll do a write up.

Cool! I'm pretty sure Spectre is good for 0-5V (at least that's what the manual says). Also, if you're using CV on CBA pedals, you need to have a TRS plug where the ring is actually left floating in order to make sure you're getting it right. That may be what you get that weird thing with the preset light flashing. Might also be worth sending the video to Joel to see if he has any comments on it.

Does anyone make a thing that will take a guitar signal and turn its envelope into CV?

WMD Protostar! I use this all the time to control Chase Bliss stuff, Pretty Years, and Randy's Revenge. Works great. Alternatively, I'm sure you could dive into modular... :flame:

MF-101 will do this as well. With an expression pedal and a fuzz before this can achieve some sick filter sweeps as well.

Hmmm, pretty cool. Is this the smallest pedal that does it?

I'm actually about to start working on something like this right now. As I understand it the guy who designed the Dream Reaper for Adventure Audio is also looking to put something similar in their next pedal.

solo tunes:
completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)

I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

As far as I know, yes, but it's actually a pretty small pedal. It's the same size as Randy's Revenge or like a BAT Pharaoh. I forget the name of the enclosure, will edit when I find it later.

idk if Monkeydancer will see this thread but he took my advice and drank the Koolaid and basically he's in love with it, too. It's not just me.

Envelope generation is my anti-drug.

Or my drug. Or something.

A few of the moogerfoogers can generate an envelope out. They are obviously not small. And the envelope itself is a little lacking? Or flat maybe?

I'm much happier using the envelope generated by a Dreadbox Epsilon. Has controls for attack, release, sensitivity and depth. Not small, but not huge like a moogerfooger. Haven't tried the Protostar, kinda skeptical about it having the attack knob controlling attack and release, like uhhhm what?

I would like to eventually switch up to a smaller dedicated envelope generation pedal to replace the Epsilon and free up a little board space. There was talk here where Adam at Copilot had done a dedicated envelope pedal for Resincum, but idk if that is envelope follower or stomp-activated envelope generator.

I have considered going mini-modular just for envelope and CV madness, but you know... modular, rabbit-hole, next thing I know I'm selling all my pedals...
