Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators

Post by Jero »

Been wanting to pick one (or more) of these up since their original release, yet still haven't  and it looks like a new one is about to release...

I know a bunch of you guys have them, or have at least tried them out, SO...

If you were going to get ONE, which would it be? (To make things simpler, let's assume it will be used by itself)

Dude I love them. I'm picking up a po-32 tonic as soon i can. The PO-12 and PO-20 are both really fun. If I'd get one....... I guess the tonic, but I haven't tried that yet. The arcade is the most fun

It seems like the standard PO starter is the PO-20.

I have a PO-12, and while it's pretty fun, I never use it. It's just not intuitive enough for me and it kind of feels a little too much like a toy.

That's funny, as the po-12 and po-20 are at the top of my list! Followed by the po-16 factory and po-28 robot.

I'm trying to get the rhythm and robot from him too, but he has the shipping at $20 for the rhythm.

:thumb: Yeah, saw those pop up & took it as a sign.

If you like the price, just buy 'em and trust he'll refund the shipping.

I started with the PO-12. It's a ton of fun, it's cool how much stuff they packed into that little package. got my eye on a tonic next

Yep, I got a PO-14 and 16 when they got released and while they can be fun they don't feel like instruments to me. The point is "to me", some people like them and do cool things but I don't feel like I have proper control of what's happening in there and they lack memory to be really usable I think.

So as a thing that you can use to quickly have some fun ? Yeah. As something that can be used to make music ? It really depends on your workflow and what kind of music you make...

As usual, your mileage may vary, etc.

i have the rhythm, robot and arcade. i sample mine a lot. they get way more use this way i think.

theres a ton of fat (phat?) sounds on them. like real limited in some ways, but really expansive in others. lil ticks on the pots can do drastic things sometimes. lots of sounds packed in-between those ticks...

To be totally honest, I'm not sure it would be worth the shipping :idk:

Also, I kind of want to try sampling it now. Not sure why I never thought of this, but it would probably pair really well with the Microgranny.

Had the PO-20 for a while. Broke the screen. It was fun for public transport use, but I don't really miss it.

Thanks for the replies fellows! Any of you have clips of how you're using them? Whether it's goofin around, sampling, etc.

I guess I should have. He never replied, and they are all sold now :( oh well, I got the arcade at least! Thanks again. There's another rhythm I've got my eye on, so we'll see.
