Rainger FX Freakbass Alpha for ILF

Post by D-Rainger »

We've got a bunch of these mysterious pedals...

(I found yet another way to torture an electronic chip!)
It has the Freakenstein full-on fuzz with noise gate, plus proto synth tones which you tune around the root note you're playing. The Igor pressure pad controller (under my foot) swoops between the tone and the fuzz in an exciting way. Also there are 'clean mix' and Igor direction buttons, volume thumbwheel plus an active/passive switch inside.

I'm interested in any feedback about it....

Available exclusively for ILF for £85 (plus postage&packing)...! PM me!

Spent some time with it this morning, early impressions with guitar:

Somewhat unusable in guitar (for me at least) in the first 3/4 turn of the big knob. Killer after that. By unusable I mean you get a set pitch, no interaction with where you play on the guitar. I imagine that area would be great on bass though. Also, this area can be used nicely with igor. And I assume more guitar friendly with the igor direction flipped, haven't tried that yet though.

Really shines with the igor pad. Like a whole new beast. Fantastically resonant sweeps. Add a kill switch and you get get crazy effects with it.

There are some oddities with some notes dependent on the settings like unexpected textures or pitches, kind of like hitting an unfriendly note with a misty cave. Not unwelcome, just an unexpected curve in the road.

Really loving it, igor rules.

Favorite thing to do, play a chord, rapid fire kill switch as I stomp the igor and slowly let pressure off. It goes from tone to chord with a stuttering sweeping squelch.

Awesome job D-Rainger
