Sonicsmith

Post by echorec »

These cheerful lads are supposed to be at NAMM. Sonicsmith was founded by an American engineer and an Israeli producer, who met and work out of Poland.

The prototypes are nearing completion (prices TBA), so these should be available for ordering quite soon. They're audio-controlled, semi-modular synths that can process various external signals (guitar, keys, et cetera). Three initial offerings are on deck: the ConVertor, Squaver P1, and the Squaver P2.

Sounds like it tracks great, wish they built an arpegiator in directly or multiple voices in one because I have a feeling these won't be cheap.

Here's an image that includes the Squaver P2, as well as the others.

This looks right up my alley! I don't understand why they made it into a pedal, though? This seems like it'd be perfect to have in a Eurorack module so you can control your eurorack with your guitfiddle? Maybe they'll release a module that's just the audio to cv pitch and gate so you can use that to control your eurorack?

Looks like they have different versions, some as a stomp, some as tabletop. different configs for different folks.

True, I'm definitely interested in the convertor. These look like they might be ridiculously expensive, though. So, I'd rather buy the cheapest/simplest option, ignore their oscillators, and use that as a controller for a larger eurorack synth.

like others said, tracking seems great but i'm curious what happens when you play a chord or bend a note.
multiple voices in one would indeed be great.

I'm seriously debating pre-ordering a P1. Anybody have any additional info?
