I'd like to clarify something about our (I feel unintentionally) running Comesect out of here yesterday.

Neon started this thread as a way to vent some of the woes of the single life, and it turned into a hilarious collection of awful stories and failed attempts at sex/relationships. Some things were said that raised eyebrows, I'd say especially from Comesect... wondering if a stranger making small talk "wants my sack" and that line about a girl being young and "highly susceptible to persuasion" come to mind, among a couple others. I don't know if these were said with any kind of creepy intent, but they came off that way. I'm too much of a wuss to call out people for stuff like that most of the time. Ultimately Oscillateur came along with the "you're creepy as fuck" line, which I get, but was probably a bit harsh... I tried to follow it with some support, but I don't think it was too effective. Seems like we ran the dude away.

To that, I'd like to say sorry... sometimes we're harsh on here when we call people out, but I'd say most of the time we're more constructive. I know we're mostly straight dudes, and I don't think there's any harm in us getting crass from time to time—it can be, in the case of this thread, very fun. With that in mind though, I've always enjoyed how open minded and tolerant we all are, and I don't like it when there's some lizard-brained shit said that could make some of the few people on here who are not straight dudes think they're not in good company.

So. I hope that makes sense. It's been bugging me. Comesect—if you're listening, the intention wasn't to shame you into leaving. I don't think you meant to be intentionally off-putting, but I hope you understand why people got their feathers ruffled.

don't change... except in this slight moment... change just a little bit to see that you were perceived to cross a line in terms of how you characterized a girl susceptible to persuasion... perhaps you were clowning but it was unbecoming ... girls get enough shit in this world, too much as it is, tread lightly, don't be yet another male that they have to put up with in their day to day grind harassing them, or making them feel unsafe, or giving them attention they don't want, or stalking them, or e-stalking them, etc... see that your uh... perhaps slight overstep of this persons comfort / boundaries... is probably perceived by her as just one more microagression of bs she has to put up, wearing her down... Be better than that. Change just a little to try to walk more softly towards women (which they respond quite favorably too) ... respect people's autonomy, first and foremost... try to extend to every female the fundamental respect of dignity and right to exist unmolested that you would hope the world blesses you daughter with. Radical empathy. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Then make some weird music and come back us!

Ritz' post relates to something that occurred yesterday. Me and my girlfriend went for a walk late last night, and popped into a 7-Eleven cause I needed gum. In there were these two 50-something men in classic "I'm kinda-sorta a businessman yet I drive a 2005 Citroen Picasso, but you better respect me cause I'm old and I wear pointy tan leather shoes" get ups. They were drunk off their fucking asses, to great amusement for us, the clerk and other customers in there. When the clerk got to us, these two gentlemen hadn't managed to leave yet and were eating the foccacias they'd just bought, and as I was paying for the gum, one of them uttered "who's that little viper", referring to my girlfriend. I asked him what a "viper" is (or hugorm, in Danish. I know what it is), it took him a minute before he replied "It's a Danish word, and it..." (with weight on the Danish part. I'm half Tunisian and my girlfriend is Iranian #everydayracism) I cut him off before he could finish and said "what did you mean by it?". At this point, the dude has moved provokingly close to me, as in all up in my face, but his body language and eyes were saying, on so many levels, that he was regretting this move of aggression, yet he was desperately trying to keep up the tough guy act. The clerk started interfering, and was telling the geezers to leave and such. I wasn't done with our little convo, so I repeated "What did you mean by viper?", guess what he did? He fucking denied having said anything. Like a little bitch. At this point I couldn't help but smile, cause for me, it was over right then and there. Me and my girlfriend left with a "good night, enjoy your food".

Anyway, this incident made my girlfriend cry. She is so sick and tired of being objectified and hassled by lowlife dickwads everyday, that she just had enough. These dogs are gonna get the better of me one day.

totally see how what ever I type is your own inner voice transcribing it how ever your emotional interpretation may be, though if I were to sit down and have a cup of coffee & a smoke with yall...youd see theres no issue at all...I am commander fun, but il try to not go overboard again...ja ja ja jokes is all but from the heart, the truth is the best humor ever and shows me where the mind of the receiver stands. Im pretty much surrounded by women all day everyday and theres no escape so have a heart. I mean well and Lord knows it.
