Well I bought a Holy Grail today and took it to band practice and put it before my dirt...

And it's going back tomorrow. I need a reverb with adjustable decay. I don't like how theres a mix control but not a decay. I actually want a wetter reverb with a shorter decay.

Or maybe I just need a delay. That's actually probably the answer.

I was gonna save up a little and get an RE-20 but...Fuck. I'm supposed to buy a Driving Notion off someone this week. So I'll probably go cheap haha.

Honestly I just need something to flesh out the spacey parts and make fun pingy noises when I palm mute plucky weird riffs, and then get out of the way and lemme staccato blast fuzz chords.

If that made sense

RV3 is fucking awesome dude! You can usually get a used one for a great deal too! Plus one of us could rehouse it for you if you need. :)

One of the Baritones mods adds a "long/short" switch.

Yeah I thought of the same feature on the RRR when he mentioned that, but in that particular case the short setting isn't even that short.

I'll throw one out there that surprised me: the Keeley Memphis Sun. I don't think I'd have ever checked one out if it weren't for accidentally ending up designing a graphics variant for them. It's designed to mimic old Elvis Sun Studios sounds, but it can get really weird. Short reverb/delay, cool metallic plinky sounds, might be worth a look for you.

What do we collectively think is the simplest reverb that sounds awesome and has some presets? I'm leaning towards the empress. I need spring, modulated, and a big room. Anything else is a tasty bonus.

Sorry for any thread derailment. Still spring related so it's cool right?

i love my empress reverb for many reasons but spring is far from the best that pedal offers. given the nature of empress's desire to expand on their new big box reverb and delay i think that can change in the future. right now i always end up going to a different reverb sound despite my desire to have a spring sound going on. i think the modulation modes sound really good too! the flanger reverb is great, but i wish it went a little slower. the tremolo verb is definitely a mode i've spent a decent chunk of time in, really fun controlling the rate with expression.

in terms of something really simple control wise, the neunaber exp stuff is what i always gravitate to. i love how simple the controls are, i love that you can set different mix tapers (like setting the effect to be louder than the dry signal but you don't lose any dry signal), i really like the tap tempo set up too. and plus they are super versatile. i have had my slate set to the echelon echo algo for a few months now and i never want to turn it off. it sounds really great as a pre-fuzz delay because of the aforementioned mix tapering, you can still get some attack cutting through the washiness of long repeats.

I love my danelectro spring reverb. For 100 bucks it can't be beat for real springs, but I will say I do want to rehouse and change out the switch at some point. I would even prefer if it was just always on so I could mount it under my board and then have a spring reverb on board ready to go at all times, 9v, no fuss. I really should just get my Laney VC-30 Reverb fixed, it is heavenly.

That's exactly how I'm feeling about the rrr too. That's might actually be the verb I need. I'm thinking short, preferably multitap delay pre-dirt for pingy stuff and fuzzwaves and then an RRR at the end of the chain for a little atmosphere. It does sound awesome pre-dirt though. Ugh.

I think I just need a TAFM at the end of my chain to fuck up everything else. Fucking GAS, man.
