Back to DBA, what's the beef with them? Do you all feel that they're over hyped? Over priced? Poor quality? I listened to an interview with Oliver? The owner? seemed like a genuine guy.

Speaking for myself:

I've probably been ragging on DBA a bit more since I really started figuring out their circuits, but that's mostly because there was a lot of mystery surrounding their designs due to all sorts of factors (mainly that people were afraid to take them apart because there was a decent probability they wouldn't work once you put them back together) and a lot of people still tend to view their work as if magical fairy dust was what made them sound the way they did.

I wouldn't go as far as to even say I, personally, have a beef with DBA or whatever.
With me, it's more of the same issues I have with any pedal company: uninformed buyers/sellers that act like the things are made from fairy dust and attempt to sell DBA pedals for exorbitant amounts of money for that reason.
I love DBA, Oliver Ackermann ( ), APTBS, all that. I have a couple of their pedals (Space Ring and Echo Dream 2, both of which I bought direct), I've made a few clones (FW V1, FW V2, a few Evil Filters before they even acknowledged plans for a new one, modified Reverberation Machine), and if I wasn't perpetually paying a massive bill, I'm sure I'd own more DBA.

I actually PMd you explaining that this was a one-off for personal use based on the info you detailed over at Tagboard Effects. I did end up either selling or trading it a few months later, but I do not do 1:1 clones of your pedals for money, or anyone else's.

Just because you put two pedals in one enclosure, doesn't mean you're not making a clone of an in-production pedal.

smallsoundbigsound ok. not really cool to sell clones of my stuff in my opinion. i'm just a one-person shop, not some huge corporation or even large company of many people. you seem obviously excited about making pedals, are probably not cranking out loads of mini clones and thus probably won't drastically affect my sales but it's the principle of the matter if you're selling stuff, especially if you're using names that are close enough to the original. idk. i can't stop you but you feel where i'm coming from?

I hold you in extremely high regard, and every pedal I make is an improvement/expansion on an existing product. As for the name, I actually thought that I was being somehow tributary having it be a tongue-in-cheek reference to the original. Sort of a "hey, you know who really came up with this".

This threads wack...&.dba rules...talked to that reverb cloner and told him why not just change up/find your own trick with the dba circuits your pedaling so it's not a complete rip off but ya like the jwar said statement he just didn't understand.......

aha!^ ....looking threw the verb and bay one thing that pisses me off that isnt dbas fault i guess is I can never find a TSA that isnt under 100....cuz its ***HOLY GRAIL SUPER RARE*** was happy to see a space ring i posted get sold at reasonable price...hope it was one of yall. ....love it when you see a thee fuzz war for 600 or that reverb sunshine that is still for 666 that went down to 420 then 400 then creeped back to 500 the 600 now 666....anyways some one buys it for that price right, then a week later ones for sale for like 300....

Back to DBA/Grooms/Vice:

Have you guys seen Goodnight Brooklyn? Its a great film about the space, the pedal company, Oliver, Vice, the people that lived there, and so on. It was made by Matt Conboy (DBA founder with Oliver). I think at least one or two dudes in Grooms lived at DBA for a while, so I think they are pretty close with those dudes.
