Re: Bring me some synthy synth
I somehow forgot Add N to (X) previously. This was an error.
I saw them live when they still existed, tons of analog synths played live, wonderful. One of the bestest bands ever.

Good list chrisdermo! ^ Advisory Circle is a particular fave of mine.
Recently I've been getting down with 'Generator' by Keith Fullerton Whitman, can Zone Out hard to it.

Re: Bring me some synthy synth
Yes thanks !! Will add all this to my Spotify.
I've been so immersed w Cortini I'd likely blow the dude's rod at this point. But beyond him I've got to spend time with Keith Fullerton Whitman, Simian Mobile Disco, Boards of Canada ...

Re: Bring me some synthy synth
I kind of hate Kraftwerk personally. I always preferred CAN, Neu!, and Düsseldorf.
For a more up-tempo, 80s sound I like some of the Trisomie 21 stuff.

More cinematic, down-tempo--

Broadcast used a Jen SX1000 mono synth, along with a variety of other synths, organs, and pianos. They're not a synth band, but I don't think they've ever recorded anything without a keyboard. There are so many layers, swirling sounds, hums, and lo-fi synth screeches everywhere. If you want to hear creative uses of keyboards as a textural instrument or just nice recording techniques for a unique sound, you can't go wrong with stuff like Future Crayon, Tender Buttons, The Noise Made by People, et cetera.

I enjoy more primitive, minimalistic stuff like Silver Apples and Suicide, too.
