:erm: I like the bolt-ons because you can stick an aluminum neck on it.

I view people who dislike Gibson and Marshall (and who don't own a single Boss pedal) as those who don't like punk/hc; with uneasy distrust. Granted, I'm not big fan of Les Pauls, but as long as some people make music I like with it, I can't discount any particular make of guitar/amp.

And you can't just "stick an aluminium neck" on anything, those things are in short supply. This is me being ornery in this thread.

I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert on Gibsons (I'm not really that interested in them), nor am I gonna wax evangelical about mij copies beyond saying that my experiences have been positive.
agreed. thanks for a level response.

I like Strymon because they don't use trim pots.

BossMann73 wrote:Picked up an MD-2 mega distortion for l$30 off Reverb just as an experiment. Wasn't expecting it to blow away the majority of every bass dirt I've owned and loved before, but truth be told, it did. Absolutely insanely great dirt for bass. All gain ranges covered, extreme low end (actually adds lows to my signal), super touch sensitive and a beautiful harmonic crunch like the best JCM800 I've ever heard. There's a video online with it on bass, but it sounds nothing like real life.

I call buying used Boss pedals "candy buying" since they're so cheap. In the past two weeks I've bought a bunch. DIrts include ODB-3, ML-2, MZ-2, MT-2 and MD-2. Except for, ironically enough, the ODB-3, they all kick ass on the bass (for those that didn't read the other thread, the MT-2 and Mantic Vitriol are kissing cousins...they sound identical). But there's something special about the MD-2. Y'all should buy one just for fun. Like I said above, the one I bought was $30 shipped from Reverb.
It is a great pedal. I used to own a ds-1 and could make the md-2 sound nearly identicle. I remember having to keep the gainboost nearly all the way down. Increasing the gain boost starts to put you in, I dare say, big muffish-like territory but with less insanity and output. You can go from Punk to Metal to Doom ...@

Ugly Nora wrote:$30 might be cheap to you, but that is several hours wage for lots of us. Point being, please be a little more aware that not everyone considers $30 to be candy. I bought a pack of Dentyne Ice from the vending machine at work yesterday which cost $1. That's my idea of candy prices.
Oh Christ. Is this some class-based woe is me thing? $30 surely isn't nothing but in terma of pedals it is close. The guy refers to them as candy buys cause of how expensive pedals often are.

A (more than 5) "bunch" of Boss pedals over two weeks at 30 dollars a pop sounds like a waste of money to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
