It's like comparing a memory man to a line-6 m9. Sure the M9 does more sounds pretty decent and can get pretty close to a memory man but it's not a memory man. A Brute is a solid analog monosynth. Sure a Op-1 sounds good and can do more but in the analog monosynth category it can not compete with the Brute.

As much as I love my Minibrute, they can't really be compared to an OP-1 or vice versa. Inherently different machines

Lemy's got a fair point, but it's a bit of a conversational red herring since no one is really talking about getting the OP-1 to replace the Brute as an analog monosynth, as far as I can see, rather suggesting it just as a replacement for the Brute in general.
good deals are here.

Yeah it's a fair point, that's not what I'm saying. To go for an Op-1 would be going for something entirely different.

Plus if your starting to go into the $900 range with the OP-1 I personally would save up a little more and pick up something like a used Prophet 08.

I haven't posted in here but I'll say get something with 2 oscillators per voice (not a Microbrute). Puny ass 1 oscillator shit can fuck right off.

I would go for a Volca Bass over the Sub37.

Yes. Yes you do. It's paraphonic and I've heard that it has insanely flexible modulation routings.

+1

I basically only use modular, but the Sub37 reminded me of the strength of hardware synths. It's a really great sounding, compelling instrument! The paraphonic gives a lot of room to have fun playing melodies over drone notes, or to do stuff in third and fifths.

I'm kind of in the same boat as Vidret.

Got a Microbrute recently and now looking for next step. Initially, I was going to hop in on the Folktek Mescaline as those are sounds I crave lol. Bloops, bleeps, soundscapes. Cortini is my god right now so shit like that.

But then I thought, would a Mother 32 be better ? 0-Coast? What about the Kilpatrick Phenol?

Eventually, I want Euro to be a possibility ...so the 0 Coast may be tough in that regard plus I don't think it pairs w the Brute very well. But would be open to selling Brute...

So, Folktek? O Coast? Mother? Phenol? Other?

What would you do and why?
