Folktek Mescaline

Those tiny wires look like a pain. But other than that this looks like the best thing folktek's ever made.

They are fairly fragile.. i personally wouldn't want to use this live but for experimentation and exploration it's a perfect method due to the insane amount of possibilities it gives you. Like with my Triad so far... i can just plug in to various areas very quickly until i hear the sound change in a way that is pleasing to me.

Also, since the breadboards are removable you can get a bunch of them and save presets this way by not removing the patch, just the breadboard and you can have patches ready to go at any time which you can't do with standard jacks. This will be really cool with so many of us getting one because we can share pictures and diagrams of what our patches are when we find something great and the rest of us can duplicate it!

I think this will be 10 times more fun because of the amount of us getting it and the ability to learn together.... cause the Triad is a lonely world.

BUT... i also can't wait to sync it with my Triad and just have this full blown crazy instrument!

I haven't looked for any audio in/our cables in the videos, but:

Worth noting is that no external effects or processing have been used. These are straight recordings into the mixer, flaws and all.

Really hoping they hit their big goal to add the extra stuff to the unit they talk about on the indie page:

If we sell 250 complete systems, we're going to add an effect control on Channel for the DSP and add a selector to allow you to change from the reverb to another custom designed effect that will allow for further shaping. If we sell 500, we'll add the effect control as well as 4 total custom DSP effects to Channel which will take the synth to another level sonically and allow it to be a very powerful effects processor for external sound as well.

Lay off the real mescaline you paranoid bugger

They're not feeding it external sounds. That would make zero sense for a product demo and not a obvious explanation of this as people would be pissed later on and cause all sorts of problems. This is a self contained instrument. Since they wrote it in too, then i'm sure it is true.

I mean, people surprise me all the time with being shit, but having seen pretty much all of their videos on YT and them having been in the business for like 8-9 years now, I would be very surprised if they tried to do something like that. I don't think the marketing people are the ones playing the instrument...

That being said, I will look at the layout for each module and try to see what's going on in the videos.

Yea you're right on this. I thought Indiegogo had a legal obligation, but after reading their terms...nope.

For what it's worth, I messaged the builder and he was willing to put me on a list if I wanted to use Paypal. I'm not going to do it, but if I requested an invoice and they provided it, he'd be under a legal obligation to send me something or give money back.

Also, you can always try a charge back on your CC. They have to proved you were not buying something versus donating money. I'm thinking the CC company would side with you. I went through something like this, and threatened to get a lawyer involved if they did not comply and they did.

And it's Folktek who have been around and they've already done a successful indiegogo campaign where the only issue was a slight delay. Not to mention this isn't a concept. He's spent 2 years making it and has working units. Now he just needs the funds to order parts and put them together.

Pretty sure that's just the output mixer... there are several outputs on the Mescaline. I asked in the comments section to verify though.

Purple cable (R IN) is coming from somewhere else. The rest are outputs.
