hey man did you ever notice that if you look at an upside down pentagram sideways... it's just a normal pentagram?

Aren't there way too many rad super versatile dirt peds out there to waste yer monies on something that'll only do low gain/med gian :idk:

Acapulco Gold, and all other one knobbers for that matter...I tried to like em, just cause they ooze with mojo. But it makes no sense what so ever to not have seperate gain/vol controls, there's no amount of mojo that'll make up for that kind of inconvenience imo.

So my vote: Another Elements. Sick sounding pedlol, no matter how you dial it in or how gainy/fuzzy/clean you set it.

Also, side note, and I'm being totally serious here: That ridiculous Boneshaker deal is "US only"
Any ilf bros out there willing to ship one to Europe for me? In return for a ton of respect and infinite gratitude? :?:

I always viewed one knobbers as having a place on live boards where you have no plans on adjusting anything other than volume and have made sure that each distortion/fuzz is set exactly the way you want it to sound.

Or they just sound fucking awesome on their own and you don't need to fiddle with them.

someone said the witch burner was a BAT'd up tubescreamer, and I like that description, so i say go for it, unless you already got a boneshaker.
Yeah it is TS9 based from what I recall (per a buddy of mine that helps with BAT builds)

Looking at the guts, it looks like it's probably closer to the D+/Ross Distortion with LED clipping.

Have you considered the revelation superlead? Had a superbass, was awesome for low end and the lower gain crunch was fucking amazing.
I tried one of the prototypes when Mark sent a tourbox around years ago. It really didn't fit with my rig at the time, but the amps I had then weren't the best about taking pedals. Something to chew on if the quest continues.

Idunno man. Unless a pedal is super intuitive, I prefer simple and done well to tons of options and getting overwhelmed or fucking up my tone because I can't get it dialed in right. The Elements is definitely an exception for me, as is/was the Musket, since they both cover tons of ground and I've yet to make either one sound bad ever. The idea of twin Elements is intriguing, but ultimately boring to me since I already have one and there are so many pedals I've not tried yet. Unless I can get a dual elements pedal like someone around here has/had...now that would be fucking sweet.

See: BAT Ritual. Brings the doom. Needs nothing else. Okay so technically it makes rad overdriver sounds with the guitar volume backed off, but still, it really only needs one knob.

Damn, looks like the relative value of my boneshaker just dropped considerably lol. Guess I'll be hanging onto it. Could be worse, a parametric EQ isn't something to be sad about having around. :D

Nah - I bet values on the used market will stabilize or maybe even improve once they are discontinued and people realize they need the toanz.

That's what happened to the Headrush. I think it's a little harder to say with gain pedals, though, unless someone famous starts using it.

There was a thread over at the bullshit nuns convention Talkbass about the Boneshaker and some manufacturing defect. JohnK noticed that two parts were swapped on the PCB that affected the depth knob in some way. Perhaps DOD just decided to cut their losses on the pedal and blow it out because so many people stopped buying it after they found out about this issue. I think they offered a free repair. In either case, I didn't need or want one, but at $40 bucks I just joined the bandwagon too. Fully parametric bass, mids, treble is too good a tool to not have lying around for the studio at least.

I'm reading the description of your book on Amazon now. Wow, killer thesis man. Thanks for writing this. Just finished America The Anxious which is sort of a corrolary to your book in a sense. I'm sure you have heard tons of stories about this, but my friend who works at Deloitte here in NYC said they had to open a new HR department aimed solely at millenials and their entitlement issues.

I don't have a witch burner but I played with one for about 15 minutes. Didn't strike me as a low-to-medium gain pedal. Pretty heavy from my memory.

Great bass. Kinda middy

Makes sense. Maybe Pike will put one on his Sleep board or something, then all the cool kids would need one

Much appreciated, dude. I'll have to take a look at America the Anxious. That story about the HR department is probably the worst I've heard, blows my mind, but kind of doesn't surprise me...although I do have to admit that even though I mention it in the book several times, my thinking has changed pretty substantially from millenials are the fucking worst to EVERYONE is the fucking worst anymore.

Most of the stories I get are on a smaller scale than the one you shared - college professors getting emails from parents about grades, people quitting when denied a promotion after being at a company for a few months, sarcastic baristas, you know, the usual shit.

It's off market currently - at first for a rewrite, but also because of laziness, and because once I was really terrified I was being sued (turns out I'm just a super anxious person, but still...). But I've got the kindle files on my computer, I'd be happy to send you a copy if you'd like.

Good to know. Pretty sure my mid-gain tone is high gain to most folks, so that's probably not a deal breaker for me.
