Cheapest Indie Board Ever
So, I'm moving out to the countryside of Northern Kentucky/Southern Ohio and I'll be able to jam again. Since I don't have a pedal board, or pedals, I'm looking for the cheapest pedz I can manage to get that Pavement lo-fi college rock sound. I've got a Strat and a Roland Cube for my amplification purposes.

Re: Cheapest Indie Board Ever
I'd start by upgrading the Cube before I spend anything on pedals
But yeah seems like this really calls for a bread and butter kinda approach here, especially if the money's tight.
So just start out with a hotcake/ocd/rat type of dirt pedal, an ehx holy grail reverb, and something like a DE7 or Boss DD3. Beyonde that, there's no need for much modulation imo, at least not right away. A small stone or small clone might be fun as well I guess.
You'll also want a nice fuzz though, and you might be better off not being stinchy there imo. You *could* get an easily avaible thrusty EHX Big Muff and call it a day, but than there's a good chance we'll see a new thread from you in the near future titled "BM upgrade suggestions wanted"
But otherwhise, for that kind of music/budget you really don't need to go down the Strymon/ChaseBliss/Dwarfcraft/etc rabbit hole impo

Memory Toy, Holy Grail Nano and a used Devi Ever fuzz/RAT. In that order. You should be able to get that for like 200 bucks.

Roland Cube should be fine for this porpoise. Get a $30-$50 Tascam 4-track (sometimes even cheaper due to the tape deck not working). Plug it into the amp. Fuzz/dirt = done. Authentic '90s lo-fi bliss & happiness.

Re: Cheapest Indie Board Ever
If you want to stay REALLY cheap, used Mooer Black Secret (rat clone) and Mooer Reecho (digital delay) should cover your needs.

I'd get a normal Rat2, a cheap Tube Screamer clone, any functional delay and an all-in-one (Mooer?) modulation pedal. That's the most variety for the least $$.

If you can nab one of those Little Bear Rat Clones on the cheap definitely do that. They're really versatile. Bought mine on here for $30 or $35 and now I have my main drive covered.

Mellowtone is building again, and his stuff is cheap. Seem to remember that you love the Wolf Computer, which covers a lot of ground from drive to fuzz to insanity.

I don't think Mellowtone's making any Wolf Computers at the moment? But that and an SD-1 would cover a ton of ground. You could get that Mooer Bass Fuzz, it might be kind of close because the wolf computer's supposedly based on that circuit?
Or, I'd get one of those new ibanez muff-overdrive things and a used Carbon Copy

Nnnnnoooooo What ever happened to a chicken in every pot and a wolf computer in every home? The American Dream really has been murdered.

He made some two knobber ones recently, but I have no idea if he plans on making more full size ones? Seems like he should keep making that as his flagship pedal while he makes his new offerings?

Re: Cheapest Indie Board Ever
I went to Gorham Brothers today and tried out what they had. The Walrus Iron Horse is a pedal I've had before. It is a really good RAT but it is also $200. I messed around with a Memory Toy, Afterneath, Space Spiral, and Mondegreen, too. None were particularly suited to my purposes. I stopped by Guitar Center to look for cheap used stuff. While nothing used stood out, they did have the new TC Electronics pedals in. I had the dude set up the Grand Magus Distortion (RAT), Rusty Fuzz (Silicon Fuzz Face with some Big Muff DNA), Echobrain (Analog Delay), and the digital delay. All were shockingly good. The Grand Magus was an instant standout. It was perfect for nailing the sound I'm shooting for. I grabbed the Echobrain, too. The fuzz was really solid and I'll be getting it eventually. These new TCs have top-mounted jacks, folded metal enclosures, and sound great. I loved my old Stereo Chorus, but the latter day stuff left me cold. I'm a fan of these new ones.

Cool man!
Congrats, and its good to hear a report on these.
Have been curious as to how theyd turn out in the wild.
