Recommend something like a single-step Goatkeeper?
I like the Goatkeeper I have, but it is large, and I seldom use the wilder options. What I really like is the choppiness of the reverse-sawtooth waveform |\ |\ |\ because even at half-depth, it's distinct enough to play in time with while singing. I have a chop-modded Gravitas that still doesn't quite get me there (does 'pretty' very well though). I've also tried: Sonar (close but no), Starla, Supa-Trem, Shape-Shifter (v1), Moogerfooger RingMod, H9 patches, SY300 (pretty close but also large). Does anything else get that synthy-vs.-amp-like chop, in a smaller format?

Have you looked at the Dwarfcraft Twin Stags? I really love the sawtooth sound on that. You can have a second trem running with it, or use the second LFO to modulate the rate of the sawtooth, or just dial out the second trem altogether.

solo tunes:
completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)
I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

Thanks y'all. Hummingbird looks like just about the sound, and in a compact size. Shame there's no tap, but maybe I could rework how that part comes in. Tapping the tempo just right wasn't that reliable anyway.

The Line 6 M series has a poor man's Goatkeeper mode called 'pattern tremolo' which can be edited. The M5 is taller than a Goatkeeper, but I don't think it's as wide. It's certainly significantly cheaper, if you're looking to free up funds.

80Tape Variable State Tremolo killed my Goatkeeper and trussed the carcass.

I'm surprised that the Sonar didn't do it for you, those hidden controls should let you get the waveform you seek?

Hate to pimp my own stuff, but the (now discontinued) Alexander Equilibrium DLX has both tap and the reverse-saw waveform.

I use the Chase Bliss Gravitas for this. I've long thought Austin should have done a 1-step GK for people who don't need the sequencing.

Mr. Alexander Pedals, sir, I'd love it if you had an a la carte menu where you could mix and match 3 algos of your choice (within limits b/c I get the part that they're not all just a spin chip/three contols/power/switching/buffer).
It'd be worth an upcharge to me.
