dev i hate you, how in the hell do you do it?

i tried building a pedal
nothing fancy, just a signal splitter with killswitches for when the signal splits.

well what happened is that it worked fine but if i flicked either of the switches that were supposed to be dedicated to their specific outputs, it killed the entire thing!
so i though, "ok ill get a stereo jack and have them running opposite eachother, never touching"
figuring that if there was no contact between the two outputs then the switches would work how i wanted them too.

now my problem is that i cant figure out how to wire a stereo jack....
too many tips with no signal coming out of any of em.

k well this is how it is
the stereo jack has 3 tips, right?
these; 1, 2, 3





sell i have the left jack wired to {3} and the right to {2}
{1} is grounded

well i only get sound, and really buzzy sound at that, from {2}
{3} gets nothing

suggestions, oh great devi?
