Suneater sounds pretty different from what I've Heard Before. LAL Cyber Psychic is also unique I'd say

Suneater for sure, the weird attack makes me play very differently to normal a lot of the time.

Pretty Years is probably cheating but there are loads of settings in there that do this, both in terms of unique sounds and so much noise you have to go along with it.

Anything muff-y just makes me play desert rock and doom riffs constantly but there's nothing unique about it. :idk:

Dunno about 'unique', but in my many years of obsessive fuzz hoarding and flipping, I don't think I've ever come acros a tone bender variant that's so versatile as the the clusterfuzz. No redundant or novelty or over the top kinda sounds, no useless controls. To the point and useable in every way, and still versatile as fuck.

If I weren't still in the honeymoon phase with my newly aquired HP clone, I'd give the HP another vote...

I suppose "Boss" and "unique" doesn't belong in one sentence according to a lot of people, but I don't think there's a lot of compact superfuzz/beebaa clones that take the classic design to the point where it sounds more agressive and menacing, and comes with a stupid loud clean boost and a two band eq. Yup, you guessed it: FZ-2! :animal:

Lastly, a classic that's still relevant imo: Big Cheese. If I ever get my hands around the neck of the thief that stole mine, he won't even be able to beg for mercy

What is unique?

I like a lot of the Devi Ever two-knobbers like the Bit, Disaster Fuzz, US Fuzz, etc. The ZVex Fuzzolo kinda unique and that's one of my two go-tos. With the music I play, there's a limit to the amount of uniqueness that will actually by helpful.

So far for my Boss vote ;)

I didn't define "unique" as in "few of the actual pedals around", but more like "few similar sounding pedlols around" :idk:

That's why I like the fuzzolo and the two knob devis. They're simple, they're useful, they don't sound like anything else in particular, they have a couple of signature sounds that they do really well, and the best of them, like the Bit, TP or Fuzzalo can read your mind while you play. I'm all for fuzzes that can do remarkable things, but the world is full of music gadgets that can do remarkable things, and most of the music still isn't remarkable. It's more about a piece of equipment having a distinct personality that you interact with.

I do the opposite with non-dirt fx. I just use a Boss ME-70 & figure that a zillion generic fx will have more unique noises than one or two unique fx.
