murrrrr. need more inputs. but need to buy a new pc and some other loots so trying to go cheap for now, grab a nice 8 input rackmount usb 3 thinger later.
Behringer has a 4 input model for a hundy, the 8 is 3 hundy, so i'm thinking on grabbing one, which gives me six distinct inputs (using an NI Komplete 6 right now), grab a second if i find i need the other four? Behringer shizz is DECENT no?

Re: cheapie usb multi input audio interface?
Chankgeebus - jia. i have a similar mixer. big butt with 20 inputs or so. so i have Hearing All The Loots covered. but i only have 2 inputs on my audio interface. so when i record i have to solo each device and it takes forever and it SUCKS if i want to record the separate outs on the DrumBrute and have isolated tracks to play with.
Tei-Sama - for sure! i have NO problem with used. i just get frustrated looking because it's always sifting through SO damn much Firewire or small two input interfaces..... new it seemed like that Behringer was the cheapest decent option?

Isn't there a Focusrite Scarlett somewhere around what you're looking for, price-wise?

Go for a Audient Id14 and later on buy an 8 channel preamp strip with ADAT.

I have one of those, the 18i20. It has been an epic pain in the ass, actually. requires a seperate (incredibly dense, totally counter intuitive) routing program to get the sound in and out, and occasionally it DISABLES ALL VIDEO FUNCTIONS ON MY COMPUTER.popvulture wrote:Isn't there a Focusrite Scarlett somewhere around what you're looking for, price-wise?
Also, quite often the monitoring or recording functions don't work the first time around. Like, I have to click the monitor button in Logic over and over.
From my limited experience, I can not recommend the Scarlett line.

Re: cheapie usb multi input audio interface?
I'm using a Tascam US-1800 (now the US 16x08), 14 analog and one stereo SPDIF in. The new model has 16 analog ins. $300ish street new.
It lets me run a tap off of all my rack units, have room mics flying, etc. - so that I can focus on playing the thing instead of mixing it perfectly in real time too. As long as basic levels are set, I can tweak panning and the rest later since it's recording discretely.
Adding multiple interfaces and stacking them is a black art sometimes - I can go to 24 tracks but I've found that it requires USB reboot/swearing at times if I do that and I rarely use all 16 as it stands.

i use the m-audio m-track eight. that's pretty good, cheap, and stripped down, but decent sounding.

the saffire line is also pretty annoying but the Focusrite Red plugins they come with are actually really goodaen wrote:I have one of those, the 18i20. Re: cheapie usb multi input audio interface?
I have the 2 channel version of the behringer interface. IT is okay but I wish I would have sprung for the slightly better version with MIDI in and out.

Re: cheapie usb multi input audio interface?
murrrrrrr. i have a Komplete 6 now, so i have a solid 2 input usb device. wanted at least 4 more inputs to separate out some stuff whilst recording, separate tracks/separately MODULATED tracks GOOD.GardenoftheDead wrote:Go for a Audient Id14 and later on buy an 8 channel preamp strip with ADAT.
lol. i am noooooot trying to fuck around with ADAT though. simple, modern, hugely supported. why i wanted to go usb.
jia. i had two of the Scarlett buggererers. ALWAYS problematic. and one of them just up and died on me. EEP.aen wrote:I have one of those, the 18i20. i was looking at that! i still don't know if i want to try to grab a cheapie hundy thing to augment the Komplete 6 or drop the extra coin on a larger interface. that's the Tascam with a butt load of ins, but most are mic pres? or are they the mic pres that also take 1/4? because....... then i am LISTENING.rfurtkamp wrote:I'm using a Tascam US-1800 (now the US 16x08), 14 analog and one stereo SPDIF in. also, i didna do any research, just sorta assumed that adding an extra usb audio interface would be plug and play. it gets messy?
hurm. i've had everything M Audio i've ever owned go..... sorta...... kabloowey. like. worse longevity rating than Behringer. which..... is........ not good. yours solid?waltdogg wrote:i use the m-audio m-track eight. that's pretty good, cheap, and stripped down, but decent sounding.
i had an Motu 828 mk II i think forever? was super solid. but it was only firewire, most of their loot seems to roll that way? and mannnnn they are not cheap. the Ultrlites look NEAT though.actualidiot wrote:Anybody got experience with MOTU? Ultralite Mk3 especially
