Eh, go with the .11s then.
It depends where you kinda ride most of the time I'd think. If you like the feel of the .10s on the bottom 3 and do a lot of your melodic stuff down there, stick with it. Vice versa, etc. Lots of open chords and stuff with all the strings I guess would depends a bit if you enjoy the brighter timbre or whatever.
I think the feel of the low strings are more important to me personally. (The sizes were cut off and I kinda didn't notice with three open windows of full sized images).
Haha, I dunno. All I know is I like durable and bright. I couldn't tell you the gauges of my strings outside of .09 on the high e.

I just had two bullshit packs of fender/dadd nickel strings and they would NOT stay in tune. One set of Ernie balls later and all is well on my mustang.
I liked the sound of the nickels but the guitar sounds better in tune. Also the slinkies are louder (good) and brighter (less good).

The .11s are more, and more is not less. More is more.

Well yeah, I play .12s and .13s, but they weren't in the poll!
Also, flats feel much heavier then the equivalent gauge roundwound stirrings.

Yeah, usually I like 12s, 13s or 14s.
Not on this guitar though. The no truss rod thing is keeping my natural tendencies to go heavier in check.
I actually don't like the strings to move a whole lot under my fingers. I don't wanna fight, but I definitely want some resistance.
I'll probably go with the 11s.

That's what flats are great for, little to no movemebt because bending them feels awful.

I really like the tone of daddarios. Out of all the strings I've tried I always end back at them.
But seriously chanks... flats suck. Get the brightest possible strings with as much zing as possible.
And play metal.

10s will be fine.
Just go with option #2.
Why?
Option #2 is the default good choice every time.

I have one thing to say.
Fuck some 10s.
And that's not a pun (ok, so two things).

Re: Please, help me with this difficult string choice decisi
I play 9's on a LP, I love feeling the string wiggle under slight movement, helps me concentrate on what I am doing with my right hand. I use to play with 12's and then with flats, but I grew to hate not being able to bend easily.
I'd go with the 10's. Flat wound strings have some resistance to bending.

I am full of loathing for flatwounds. No idea how people deal with those things.

This is generally my exact approach (with a bit less metal) but having one guitar with flats is fun.goroth wrote:I really like the tone of daddarios. Out of all the strings I've tried I always end back at them.

Nothing sounds better on bass or for slide
