IP's takeaway: have more songs with lyrics about dinosaurs.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

I am going to go on a different tack from everyone else and suggest you learn a really bitchin' record front to back and play along with it. Like, really play along with it. Like you were about to get a call back from the band and have to play it start to finish with the peeps who wrote it play along with it. You'll learn a lot about how a particular band you dig does things by deconstructing them, particularly if you aren't planning on doing anything stylistically similar to them.

I used to do this a lot.
Particularly with early Mastodon records.
Might be time to get back into abrefular playing routine and address these issues.

(this is what's known as positive reinforcement through goading and an primal challenge to both your acumen and ability.)

Sidenote: I bet An Evil Heat would be a fucking amazing album to learn, too.
