It depends on what you want to do with it. If you're after the specific sound of the Odyssey, then get it. If you want polyphony, the obviously get the Minilogue. In terms of features the Minilogue has more things going on, and it's what I would choose but it's more of a personal preference. Both are good synths, but they're quite different. Need more input data.

The Minilogue would top the list for me, but damn, I love the way the Odyssey looks. I love those old school aesthetics ...

I'll echo others and say the Minilogue because it's much more versatile. Awesome synth, love mine.

---Neither. You should clear some gear and get a REV2. :thumb:

16 voices (or 8 voices across 2 simultaneous banks) > 4 voices

It's hard for me to see someone buying the Odyssey over the Minilogue. polyphony, easy access for writing and recalling presets, MIDI i/o vs 2-voices, no presets, and limited MIDI implementation

I have an Odyssey module on order to go with a Minilogue and about 10 other MIDI synths, but had I known last July that the REV2 was coming, then I would not have bought so much other stuff over the past year.

That DSI stuff is cool, but it's at least four times as much for maybe twice as much synth. However, after looking at the stuff you have, I'd recommend going for something that can do more than what you've got already. The DSI stuff is where my mind goes too, it looks fun, has tons of features, and can frequently be found used for nearly half of what they go for new.

Minilogue over Odyssey, though, if you're limited by a budget. You can disconnect the keyboard from the synth engine, which means you can have something going on the sequencer while you play one of your other synths with its keyboard. Odyssey looks cool as hell, but the minilogue doesn't look half bad and it has tons more features.

I dunno, I have some experience with DSI stuff but somehow the sounds coming out always underwhelm me, I'd go Korg or old Roland over DSI anytime.

For those who don't see a lot from Tristan, this is almost a compliment.

Yeah, fuck U2! (actually I quite like The Edge) :p

At ILF we say what we think, if that's a problem for you, too bad. :idk:

Of all those items you listed I would say they're just not good enough, in my opinion those manufacturers should step up and come up with something better, on the other hand, who cares?

Beats me why you take the time to fish out those comments and list them like that, strange hobby bro.

Be a little less uptight and anal about what others say or do, you yourself and others might benefit from it, that's all I can say to that…

:joy: :omg: :!!!:

Tristan, I was making a light-hearted joke about how you have a tendency to dump on popular designs. If I had wanted to be as hostile toward you, as your ridiculously childish reply was to me, then the tone of my post would've contained critical or aggressive elements. There's no analysis in my post. Instead I just quoted you and let your own posts speak for you.

---Clicking on your name, skimming recent activity, & then selecting ctrl+v on my keyboard took 30-40 seconds of my day. So if 30 seconds of someone's life qualifies as a hobby, as your interpretation implies, then I must have something like 3,000,000 hobbies, because I do things on a daily basis that aren't part of a ritual process.

That should really be something like----At ILF [many of us type without thinking, because we lack the self-awareness to realize someone is joking. But hey, fuck it, let me show my ass like an overly-sensitive child].

Because if the posters of this board had an official motto, it would definitely be Type Without Thinking.

I'm fairly sure that if someone playfully teases you that you're consistently negative and you lash out at them, then that makes you the "uptight and anal" one, who is taking himself way too seriously for his own good.

Ah, I figured you'd get it but I guess not.
That's too bad.

Very friendly what you say about our fellow ILF-ers too.
Maybe your jokes (playful or not) just don't really catch on.

For the record, there's smileys in my post while in yours there are none.
Maybe it helps, who knows…
:?: :D  ;)

EDIT:
Added some smileys just because.

I mean, seriously, it's not very nice or polite to do stuff like that.
Pulling posts out of their context and throwing them back at someone just because.

Over here we are honest in our opinions, if we don't dig something we say it.
Be sure, if we dig something we will say it too.
That's the only way you can really value someones opinion as far as I'm concerned.

I really do hope you can understand that.

I don't see anything impolite or unkind about quoting someone. If you're bothered by a quote, then your real problem begins with the author (you), not the person who cites a previous remark. It seems silly to me to make comments, if you don't ever want them referenced. But whatever, I don't give a shit how you or anyone else feels about a piece of gear. It's ultimately up to individuals to make up their own minds.
