I'll check some demo.
As for the tele, it has to go.
It's not juste the pickups, I'm not a tele guy.

That's why I said Filtertrons and gold foils—to me those live in between. Filtertrons are technically humbuckers, but have a much brighter sound... that said, not as bright as a Fender single coil. To me, they occupy a gorgeous in-between space... are you sure you've given them a chance? To me they seem like the perfect solution to what you're looking for, or at least based on what I've gathered.

Same with gold foils. Bright, but not too bright... a little fatter, more lush. The Lollars are fucking gorgeous sounding pickups.

I also played a K-Line Del Mar recently, and the sound of it blew me away. Chris Kronlein uses Klein gold foils on these, which are oddly described on the Klein site as "gold foil Firebird pickups." I don't know how this all works, but they sound GOOD. Once again, a really great happy medium between SCs and HBs.

And in general, I'll add that K-Line guitars are incredibly well built and sound wonderful. I have one of his Springfields (Strat-style) and cannot say enough good things about it. Sadly looks like no Canadian dealers listed on the site. Maybe email him if you're interested and see if there's anywhere you could check one out in your area.

I'd like to try Filtertron... but most guitar store around here suck. :idk:

The only guitar that I saw at a store with Filtertron is a Gretsch Chet Atkins. Those guitar are mostly for country music.

This is the best store in Quebec City:

Play it! Those guitars can be wonderful!

1. Chet Atkins is amazing and you should check him out sometime if you haven't already.
2. People use those guitars for way more than country. There are countless examples, but one of them has been getting a lot of traction here in the past 24 hours:

And one more I saw recently for some pretty, cleaner tones (think this might be a Tennessee Rose, a very similar Gretsch with Filtertrons):

The Tennessee Rose is all maple with a short scale neck. It is trebelly and I'm not comfortable with the neck.
A friend of mine have one, I tried it a few years ago. I will see him next week, I'll try it again just to be sure.

Not really suggesting you get a Gretsch, more just saying it could be a good opportunity to check out the Filtertrons.

Also... tone knob? :D

I'll try my friend Gretsch.

My main problem is that I'm bored with what they have in store around here.
Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, PRS, ESP... so ordinary. :idk:

I've been thinking of replacing the pickups in a lawsuit LP with a power'tron plus in the bridge and a p90 in the neck. I'm not a fan about how bassy or woofy humbuckers can get when you downtune, and these pickup choices I think will compliment an archtop guitar with a gold foil in the neck.

I'd definitely give a Gretsch a try, some are way to rockabilly or country for me, but that is a minor setback to how they sound.

Tone knobs and volume pots can go a long way in controlling treble too.

It's not really exciting to go try some LP, strat or tele. :idk:
