Fender American made, should I?

Post by Jero »

So I'm on a short vacation right now, and I've been finding some good deals in this shit town, anyways...

I found a '97 (n7205704) fender jazz (USA made!) sunburst with white pickguard, for $450ish. Thinking about making the plunge, cause that seems like a good deal to me. The bass is a little rough, has it's fair share of nics & dings, and a bit of buckle rash, but the neck is still straight and it feels good :idk:

I think that sounds like a good deal if it's in decent shape -- I've seen Mexican Fenders for not far off that price.
Good deals done with all these guys

Do you like the sound?
Do you like how it looks?
Do you like the feel and balance?
Can you afford it?

If so buy it!

Yeah... and less fun... I'm really giving thought to when the noise comp comes out I'm going to drop off over there for a long time... I mean it, all I ever do is get irritated at people's lack of imagination and openness any more.

Yeah, thanks to ILF, I've essentially done that. Everyone on TB just tells you to get a compressor, a micro amp and a fEarful cab.

I currently play a Jazz and I pretty much hate the thing. Definitely not my ideal bass tone. I guess I'm a P-Bass/SG Bass kind of guy. If you dig the toanz I'd say go for it. :joy:

So true... I love compressors and all but they are effects and I don't think many over there get that and therefore miss out on a lot of fun. The amp thing... yeah... I know... you know what? fuck that shit, a fucking SVT is no more heavier then most cabs, wimps

Exactly! Plus, try playing anything doom-y on a GB Shuttle. I mean, come on. Sometimes, you gotta suck it up and carry some heavy shit.

That, and if you ask any question on the effects forum, everyone says you should just get a VT bass, no matter what the question was.

"I need to recreate this tone made by a fuzz pedal that isn't available anymore. Suggestions?"

"Get a VT bass. And, do a search. C'mon."
