Dropping Pitchfactor for H9 max?
As far as sound does it have any difference? is harder to navigate? I started realizing I never tweak my pitchfactor through the knobs and always use the H9 control and save patches then just recall them. I would sort of like more options and the way it takes space allowing me to fit a boss es-5 on my board. Also being able to use bluetooth to change midi parameters is pretty cool.
I just need to know if its a pain to navigate presets and how much do you guys miss having knobs.

To navigate presets it's not a big deal, preset up and down can be done with the onboard switches, but if you are going to control it with an ES-5 then why worry about it.
If you don't want to use the iOS or Windows app you can do all the changes with the one big knob that thing has, you only need to push one of the buttons to cycle through all the parameters available. mmmmm...
I sold my PF the 1st week I got my H9 so I couldn't compare them too much but I couldn't hear any difference with the Space vs the H9, both sharing the same reverb presets.

Thats what I wanted to hear, I actually prefer controlling my PF with the H9 control program. I can visualize it better and I also really really love the "random" button since it can get me goofy stuff I would've never thought of. I was gonna see how much I could control with an ES-5. Im trying to not get so overwhelmed by pedals after all. Good to know that there is no sound difference. Some random dude tried to convince me otherwise when I went to a shop a while back. It was mostly unsolicited advice from another customer as I inquired about the H9.ramonovski wrote:To navigate presets it's not a big deal, preset up and down can be done with the onboard switches, but if you are going to control it with an ES-5 then why worry about it.

I read the manual for ES-8 and if it has the same features as the ES-5, MIDI-wise, then you will be able to control pretty much everything in the H9: Presets, looper, hot switch (Flex in PF), expression.
That "random" feature is fucking great, I've made some presets by using that hehe.

I'm using an H9 Max, DD-500 and M9 with my Boss ES-8. Programming the H9 on the panel isn't too bad, but it is a bit faster when using the Control app. However it's not always convenient to grab your phone and sync via Bluetooth. The ES8 and ES5 make selecting presets and expression control really easy. They make a great combo!

Had a PF, traded up for an H9, went back to a PF. If you have ways of calling up presets--and presets are what you're after--you're in much better shape with the H9.
I never used it that way, and it drove me crazy. I really need those knobs to get what I want out of it.
Said it before, I'll say it again: port the H9 into the SPACE enclosure with the big screen and turn me loose. No real crosstalk between products; captures the only market left who would even be interested in these algos.

Me too. Dragging my feet on buying another Space because I kind of want the extras that the H9 offers. Dragging my feet on buying an H9 because I don't think I would enjoy the interface as much as the Space.Invisible Man wrote: Said it before, I'll say it again: port the H9 into the SPACE enclosure with the big screen and turn me loose. Pitchfactor is the only one that can do parts of all the factors pedals, which is why I use it. Does some crazy modulation, pitch shifting, fairly normal delays if you want them, and some reverbs, too. Kind of a stripped-down H9, honestly. And it's the only one with a tuner...

So basically CtC could use a PF, a DL4 and some dirt and be ready to go. Think about it...

Re: Dropping Pitchfactor for H9 max?
Yeah Im still debating mostly because Im crazy lazy to sell the pitchfactor and the ES-5 seems far down the road still for me. I think the size difference and the ability to do many things is also great especially if I could pair it with something like the ES-5 since I could potentially rearrange it consistently to fit whatever I need it to be doing for that certain song but at the same time, that complicates my setup quite a bit.
I would need to see if the H9 is easy enough to use even without an ES-5 because the tuner being easy to access and same with going through presets quickly is important.

You know me too well. I am pretty intrigued with the looper in the Timefactor/H9 too.Invisible Man wrote:So basically CtC could use a PF, a DL4 and some dirt and be ready to go. Think about it...

Re: Dropping Pitchfactor for H9 max?
I couldn't get my head around it. That's when I figured out that a looper with more knobs that stomp switches is probably not for me. It's got to be immediate, satisfying, accurate, and sensible. Hence the DL4.
But the TF/H9 looper is definitely interesting, and can do some cool stuff with an expression pedal.
