Brainstorming for 2017/pedal building question

Post by sostark »

Playing with this final/current configuration of the board. Waiting on a SSBS Mini to hopefully throw a mild dirt into the wonkyness.
My question is--are there any pedals/schematics to build a pedal that could have a counter/display to show my expression pedals value? I like how the Moogerfooger's tempo light lets me know how fast or slow the delay is going, but I think it might be helpful for me to know where the numbers fall for specific frequencies like say the bitmap or CT5 (incidentally the expression is controlling those two, the moog pedals and the particle.) Last part of the question--probably a little bit easier--could that display be on a volume pedal that would connect to the expression pedal (its a 25K mission) and just sweep from no sound to full sound? Apologies if this is being posted in the wrong thread or is completely unintelligible.

That photo is tiny.

Wouldn't you know where the expression was going to fall based on the position of the treadle? Maybe I'm just being thick.
good deals are here.

I am assuming the same thing as d.o.s. ...So sorry if I'm wrong.

No way really to do it with a passive exp. It's possible...But way too much trouble.

If the exp/CV is a voltage (0-5v DC or something) you could probably wire up an LED vu meter with one of the led driver ICS...But there would probably require more buffering and work than it is worth. Arduino is another path to build one.

Alternatively ... There are CV sources with visual feedback. Lightning wave is a good example. If you modify the CV send with exp in, you will have visual feedback (but an LFO instead of a linear signal)

Totally--just trying to get a little more scientific with my adjustments. The expression pedal does a great job of staying in place, I'd just like to approximate it a little better so that if I know something will sound a certain way at (imaginary number) 26, I can get the treadle to that value and it will do the thing it likes to do at the value.

Might be easier to make like a mechanical wheel with like a dial off the side of the treadle. Like a pulley attached to the pivot pin/bolt with a chain that turns the dial.

Even something like the wheel bars off the locomotive piston system would work. Like a small movement on the treadle connects via tie to move a longer are with a dial.

Does the volume box sound like it would be doable?

Not unless you convert the passive exp to CV.

Talk to Adam at copilot, he might help. He makes some good CV tools and could probably make a meter box that converts passive to voltage back to passive.

I mean you could use the exp pedal to control a voltage source, then meter that, and make a vactrol to convert it back to passive resistance. Could work. The response will be different.

trade in your exp pedal for a source audio reflex. has the numbers so you know exactly where it is (I did the same thing you are describing with a CT5. remembered the preferred values, etc). you can also adjust the sweep/presets/lfos.
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

Broadcast.

Anything with a vactrol and CV out (or an adapter)
