Arc Flash. Throw Out Your Cat, It's A Rat Killer.

Post by Wizard »

So I bought Heartben's arc flash. It came in the mail today.

Tom, The Arc Flash is definitely the best distortion pedal i have EVER played in my life.

Oh my god. It's like, exactly what i've dreamt of a distortion pedal sounding like and being able to do.

I originally wanted to get a rat, but honestly, this is what a rat should sound like. With the switch down i can get THE rat tone, but, there's something about it, that it just sounds so much better... i can't place it...

BUT WHEN I FLIPPED THE SWITCH UP

it was like i fell in love.

Thank you Tom, this is going to be all over my bands next record.

I'm so stoked for you to hear it.

double thanks to NW for the recommendation.
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

I love that.Those b/w designs are

Because I'm slow, I only just realised tonight the Arc Flash Oscillator sounds unbelievable in front (not behind( the Wolf Computer. Both oscillating + volume knob action is just downright obscene :omg:

yeah dude, this guy is awesome.

Switch down, volume at 5, gain at 3, you've got yourself a nice tight little distortion. When you flip the switch up it opens WAAAYYYY up and since i actually don't have a rhythm fuzz on my board right now it's totally subbing awesome for that.. mounds of low end.. thick walls of heavy clipping awesomeness.

It plays nicer through darker amps since it's such a bright pedal. It loves my Dr. Z. play this baby through some vintage 30's and you will never need another distortion pedal in your life.

it's a shame it fell during transportation to a show and the footswitch broke...

it's a good thing i had 12 backup footswitches in my room as soon as i got home! :yay:

Great description, Wizard! You guys are getting me excited about highlighting the Arc Flash more!

It's definitely tuned for big low end, though you're right to say it can be bright and cutting. It's got a wider-than-usual spectrum, with as much bass pass as the Great Wall V3, but also more highs.

I don't think anyone should let it scare them away--it's a unique experience with the wide range...but if anyone's afraid of the pedal for it's cuttingness, I can always install a hi cut toggle or knob. :)

This thread--and my personal love for the Arc Flash--has inspired me to work on some new, cool things for it!

I've had to move it to the Limited Availability section...it'll get some special attention there, and be available in batches of 3-5 at a time...each with a very special finish!

PLUS, with some luck, there will ALSO be a new Arc Flash with an added knob--a highs bleed. (The AF has a full response across the spectrum, with lots of bass, but can be cutting when used with a bright Fender guitar or amp. I don't like tone controls that filter out too much--but this knob will let you bleed highs without losing the rest!). This will also be available in batches of 3-5 at a time, each with a special finish!

Hard at work,
Tom
