Anyone still using an M9? Settings?

Post by Faldoe »

I got an M9 recently from a forum member and I've been making a couple presets but I'm not sure if I'll end up keeping it. It may be worth keeping for the looper, ring mod and some verbs.

Any settings you'd like to share would be appreciated. The Dimension Chorus seems nice too.

I had on years ago, but yep. Pretty cool, but was bored quickly and moved on to digital pedals that offered more in depth editing such as the Space and the Timeline.
Good deals: OsbornKT, Phantasmagorovich, UglyCasanova, DarkAxel, Skip, D.o.S, ColdBrightSunlight, Eivind August, Goroth

I really like the barberpole phaser in the m9. With some fuzz and octave, it makes some real nice synth .

Yeah, it has a pattern trek setting. I used to have a goalkeeper and it's not the same, by any means. Gets you somewhere though.

My issue has been with some of the modulation it's not very warm. It's digital, ya, but for reverbs or ring mod that isn't as much of an issue.

I've had one since they came out. I recently grabbed a Zoom G3 to replace it thinking it would be better because newer, but ended up keeping the M9. Better sounds and more control -- especially being able to looper/expression via midi. Pretty decent verbs, great delays.

I have an m5 and I love it! Midi program change and expression control makes for instantaneous Squarepusher vibes or glitchez.
I love the pattern trem, the synth patches, the barberpole phaser also, the other trems and chorus. Wish the particle verb was LOUDER it's quiet as a mouse.

Wanna share more on the midi/expression stuff and the Squarepusher?

Soooooo you can use midi to change patches on the fly, or even load patches from Sysex over midi on the fly. I made some hyper editors on logic 9 for the m5 that allow me to draw in automation to do all that and automate whatever I set to be 'expression' controlled in my patches.
You know how all that old squarepusher stuff has crazy fast changing bass sounds? Some of it is the speed of his slappin' pippin' goodness, but a lot of it super fast preset cycling. It means you can do that. I guess a more versatile way of achieving a seppuku mod chop effect.
