Octave Drone vs. Never Drive?

Post by bdunlap »

So I am debating on whether or not I want a Never Drive or Octave Drone. Are they too similar to have both of? Which do you prefer?

ND sounds absolutely bat shit crazy but i heard it doesn't chord well. so unless that could be alleviated w/ like an EQ or DB or Bass Octave or whatever i am casting my lot for the Octave Drone.

peace.

I've gotten interesting chord textures out of the neverdrive. If you're looking for chord clarity or smooth muff chords the never drive won't do what you want. But for a good lead fuzz tone and a fuzz that crumples up your chords and spits em out.... it's a great fuzz.

I haven't had any experience with the octave drone. But if you do get the neverdrive the best way to bond with it is to just roll with it. You'd be surprised what it can do.

As for owning both, thats up to you if you decide its redundant I'm sure someone here would be glad to take it off your hands. ;)

personally. if i wanted both. i'd get both. neither are really even that expensive right? maybe i'm wrong, but i don't even think there's even any real overlap. seems more like apples and oranges--

ND is great though. but if i had to choose. i'd choose. becuz i just hate being indecisive. i think a real hard look at both Youtube demos should clarify things...

You could always DIY a Never Drive and buy a reg. Octave Drone.
