Hi guys,
here I am again with another delay quest. I bought a Diamond Memory Lane 2 which is perfect for my modulate analog delay sounds, also for dotted eights things, for auto-oscillation and more. But I want a second one to fulfill what I can't do with it. I just borrowed the Obscura of my bandmate and I don't like it.

I want:
a digital delay (tape delay is something I love too) but something that can go crazy (I just sold a DD-6, cool pedal but you know what GAS means)

I don't need:
- shimmer or glitchy things (I have a CT5 and a BitQuest for this purpose)
- reverse
- tap tempo
- a big unit with plenty of switches and presets, I am a knobby guy.

Undefined budget. I mainly use the BitQuest for verb and I occasionally switch it to the delay mode but if I have a stompbox aside, it would be cool :D

A) I get why you didn't like the DD-500 but you're crazy. :p

B) I feel like there's legitimately a million digi delays that can do this?
good deals are here.

On the top of the list for sure, a bit pricey here on Europe though. I was eyeing the dispatch master too because I didn't need the reverse and tap tempo, but yeah cool unit.
A friend of mine tell me I should get a Memory Lane Jr, he has both (ML2 and MLjr) and it sounds perfect to his ear, he'll let me hear it.

So what happened to the Moby Dick? :?:

Just in case you're ofloading it for whatever reason: Dibs? :)

Anyway, I'll agree with DOS on this one, there's got to be a bazillion options out there if all you're looking for is a no frills digital delay :idk:

If it's about filling that one particular gap in your effects arsenal, and don't want to blow money or board space than strictly needed...Pretty much any Boss DD should do the trick imo. Or a Flashback, or even a Hardwire DL-8 or a ehx #1echo. Or better yet, an RV-3 :)

Since you're eyeing the Memory Lane Jr though, I guess you're looking for something a little more...eloborate :)
So in that category: Empress Tape Delay. Costs a tiny bit less than the Diamond ML Jr, and I can totally vouch for the tape emulation. Not that I've ever even messed with an actual tape delay, nor do I give a fuck about realistic tape mimmicking...But the tape setting on my old VMSD was to die for

I sold the Moby Dick for a Tonal Recall, regret this. Very disappointed by this pedal and then found my favorite analog pedal ever! DML2: magic!
DD-2/3 or better RV-3 is maybe something to consider. There are a ton of options but if I can discover something new that can make amazing weird digital things, I take. Pladask is something I consider too. Do you know other pedals of that type? I mean, here it's the best place to discover new toys.

I just went through a delay hunt myself.

Nemesis, Tonal Recall, el Cap, TC triple, DL4, Echo Degrader, Disaster Transport all versions, Timeline, Flashback x4, you name it.

Got another Tonal Recall on the way, and the Echo Degrader is going nowhere. Best of both worlds delay wise, as far as I'm concerned. The Nemesis was really cool though. So was the Particle but CT5's take up the space that the Particle was occupying.

My .02.

Tonal Recall is one of my worst experience I had with gear... I never have had an El Cap, maybe I should let it a try.

Ever tried a smm w/ hazarai? I haven't, but been meeting to ever since it came out

Also, since you seem open to fancy boutique options, there's now supposedly a 'III' version of 80tape's Limbo delay.

And just for the sake of throwing in another idea that hasn't been mensioned yet: Free The Tone FT-1Y :)

Btw, since I was considering the Obscura myself: What didn't you like about it? I don't have much to go on, but based on what I read and hear online it seems like a decent faux analog delay with a couple nice extra features. Compact, tweakable, affordable...:idk:

I already had the DMMwH; cool pedal but only at home. I lost my tone in the mix of a band. All the cool sounds I got out of it were with the blend knob past noon and there was a noticeable volume drop.

Obscura: analog -> not to compare with my Diamond. Tape: I had plenty of tape emulation, Digitech's one isn't really good. Lo-Fi is cool though but not what I'm seeking for. Reverse is not a thing I use in a band configuration. I like to have a reverse to play with it in my bedroom but here it's only 100% wet, I love pedals that can do 100% wet but such a pity that you can't control with the level knob if you want your dry signal with it. + I'm not an aficionado of the artwork + the knob for the time isn't easy to set.

I never felt attracted by the Flight Time, maybe to much screens and not enough knobs :D
