Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
For Christmas the main gift I got my girlfriend was a Little Bits synth kit. She would always ask to borrow mine and liked to go off & plug in headphones and play with it sometimes when I would play pedals, so I figured she'd like to have her own. Before I took her to the airport to go visit her parents for the holidays, we plugged up my 3 oscillators with her 2, attached that series of 5 oscillators to both of our Little Bits speakers, and unleashed a wall of ungodly noise like I've never heard before. When she gets back in town I'll post a clip, but it was some devastatingly heavy harsh noise that you absolutely wouldn't expect to be coming from something the size of a 12" ruler.

solo tunes:
completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)
I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

I haven't touched my 856 for Zellersasn in 2 months now but I'm too afraid to sell it. First world problem, but more guidance is needed.
I'll probably end up selling the thing, because that $375 is like 3/4 of building a new case, but I feel like I'm missing out on something? I don't know, this is a whiny 16 year old livejournal post.

Do you have an Organelle perhaps? Or just a computer-to-MIDI interface? I built a tool in PureData that makes the 856 way more functional.

I do not, and I have no interest in using a computer outside of the actual recording interface. Computers are the crux of my life.

Fair enough, I am pretty much right there with you haha
I like to sit at a computer as little as possible outside of when I'm at work.

He really is. I might still go for a used one, because honestly I'll use reverb and overdrive on whatever I'll do with it. At first I though the reverb was built in but oh well.D.o.S. wrote:Vids is right on the money.vidret wrote:eh man, i'm not sure. i've considered it a million times.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Anyone used a Zvex Machine? Particularly with a Box Of Metal or other gated fuzz/amp distortion? It seems like it'd give you some weird gnarliness to a lot of stuff.
Also Dwarfcraft Hax? Seems like a cool, fucked up sounding alternative to a Gonkulator reissue. I've been using the Bitquest ring mod and it kicks ass, especially for weird stuff but I'd rather use the reverb setting.
Also this is with bass/baritone/vi

I don't even know what but I'm really craving a z vex super duper. I am really happy with my dirt section but still want it. I haven't even watched any demos, it just seems perfect in my head. Trying to start a new project similar to Jeff rosenstock. Just guitar, super duper, in limbo delay, amp.

I think Tristan has/had one. Can't remember though.
Currently using an unpleasant surprise as general gnar stacking pedal. Works perfectly for that.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I never had one.
Maybe I tried it once, not sure anymore.
It sounds mostly like a weirdly scrambled octave fuzz to me.
I remember having GAS for it, years later checking out clips again and then my interest wore off.
Can't say much about it honestly.
Might be in the same ballpark as the Unpleasant Surprise indeed.
