I can share some really horrible UPS Storys,

Probably dropped one of my guitars out of a standing plane cargo during shipping, box was really beaten on one edge and the finish broke on the back! They refused to pay for the repair costs and blamed the seller who indeed packet everything professionlay! I ended up paying 200 Euro for the repair and could have sue them what would cost a lot more cash and endless time…

They are too stupid to ring my bell when I am at home, I also ended up putting a piece of paper on the front door quoting that I am at home and the only thing the fuckers have to do is ring the stupid bell and guess what they were still too stupid for that!

Charing 500 Euro for shipping an axe to mexico, sent a bloody young driver who let me fill out the wrong formulary, shipped the guitar back due to some wrong formulary, filled out the right one and then they returned the guitar as unshippable cause it’s a one of a kind that cant be insured?!?!?! Then they needed 2 Month to get me my 500 bucks back and I ended up shipping it for ½ of the price via DHL without problems!

Got a mod / repair return sending from UPS and had to pay customs twice without have the chance of explaining that it’s a repair sending and I already paid that stupid customs!

I could continue this and there is no shipping partner I had more troubles with than UPS, they are indeed a gigantic brain fuck

i usually just dont ship to canada or anywhere else-- i use usps for pedals-- priority is awesome--
i have sent amp heads and many guitars through ups and they have always been fairly priced and nothing has gotten broken---
i think they are all starting to specialize in certain areas

Shipping with USPS to Canada works very well. It's worked very well for me with peeps here on ILF and from heads on various other forums. I sent out some pedals on the 5th of May and they arrived at their destinations yesterday. One week, international delivery... that's pretty damn good.

If you're crossing a border, anything but USPS will cost the receiver a chunk of cash (and apparently on the rare occasion they don't collect from the receiver they'll come after the sender for it too -- all the bellyaching megachurch youth pastors on TGP go on and on about this to justify their CONUS ONLY teabagger xenophobia).
Seriously, I bought a box of guitar strings on special for $50 and had to pay something like $80 to actually get them off UPS. Never ship to Canada via UPS/FedEx/DHL.
USPS is fine though. Never had a problem.
