I thought I read recently that Alex was taking a break... Nothing more than shit I read on the net, though.

I still drool over these fuckers every time this thread pops back up. Ugh.

I'd love a Street Sweeper but can't even remotely justify it. Maybe one day...

Still waiting on seeing what comes up, I think there are no new amps just V2's and streamlining. I would love to see what happens, I might try to cop one of his new heads before I move to Mexico and my money becomes utterly worthless.

The word a while back was that a lot of the amps were getting extra features and some features like power level (50, 100, 200) and effects loop would become optional on every amp. The Decolonizer was the only amp with an effects loop before. The Decolonizer gain boost is now adjustable and footswitchable while the first version just had a toggle to pick between two modes. Im sure other amps got similar little bonus features.

Sounds nice, Im gonna see what the mother looks like, honestly I don't need channels or effects loops and the OG mother is something I like as is but I don't mind the ability to get one in 50/100 watts as I don't need a 200 watt head breaking my back. I think the mother has gotten it's overdrive channel is footswitchable now and no longer just two different jacks which might be nice. That and I think he said he was going to try and streamline all the head sizes into one shell or something like that but we talked about that so long ago I cant remember.

I love my Mother - such a crushing amp! It would occasionally be nice to scale the power down to 50 or 100 watts and have an effects loop, but being able to start opening up a 200 watt amp through a 4x12 is a thing to behold.

I always wondered this is an effects loop that necessary for people? I guess for me I feel like it would be a pain in the ass having to set up cables for a loop rather than just having slightly gritty sounding effects.

personally i really like having an effects loop on high gain amps where i'm not using pedals for my primary distortion.
plus the tone shaping of the preamp will affect the effects and vice versa so it's nice to have the loop.

I guess I never thought about it like that because I have always had a slightly overdriven amp which I blast with distortion pedals. I could see how an effects loop would be nice for stuff like delays and reverbs on a high gain amp. Probably would be decent for loopers too if you wanted to play different textures on it. I might cop one of these amps with a loop although I may end up being a lazy shit and not using it.
