I dig the song but yeah, the vocals are insanely lame. Like the lyrics are too poppy and straightforward. Admittedly his older lyrics are kind of try hard, but I really liked how even if I knew the lyrics I wouldn't have any idea what they meant. Singing "bourgeoise" in 2016? Give me a fucking break.

Honestly I think I'd like it more if they excluded the lyrics from the video.

Yeah, I cringed at that lyric. And being forced to confront them head-on like that was not pleasant.

I liked it, but only a soft like for exactly what thundermingus said. I'll definitely spend some time with the album if they release a full one but with mild expectations

Listening, thesaurus in hand (likely how it was written, as well).

Load of boring, safe crap. And Cedric is probably still a Scientologist, so i don't want to listen to him shouting about that horseshit. Omar makes so much music that he forgets that sometimes some of it should sound like he spent more than an hour on it. Also, where has Cedric's awful, latter-day TMV, Phantom of the Opera, dramatic theatre vocals gone? You mean he could have sang like old Mars Volta all this time? Is he going back to his old voice because alienating the fans of both of his bands would mean no more fat festival pay cheques and this is his very last chance?

New single isn't as overtly insufferable as the last one. But it's still disappointingly average. It doesn't make me cringe - which is definitely a plus - but it doesn't really make me feel anything. It's bland as fuck. It may as well not exist. Which is kinda weird considering anything post early-TMV is so hit-or-miss. This is decidedly neither

I'm sure there'll be at least a couple really good songs on this album on par with some of ROC/ICO/Vaya. So I'm still pumped to hear the rest of it. However, I think it's safe to say now we're 2 songs down that it won't be as consistently good as those albums.

A lot of what made them special (at least to me) was this frustration in their music.
Growing up in the same city it felt like another fucking country not quite Mexico, not quite the US either. El Paso is 8-9 hours away from Austin or Denver, 4ish hours from Albuquerque, and 6-7 from Phoenix. Fuck El Paso is closer to San Diego, CA than Houston, TX. And that isolation lead to a lot of frustration/anger for some people.

The world has changed as have they and that magic isn't there.
It died and should have been left buried.
I'm more excite for other ATDI related projects they have lined up.

This one's believable as B-side to RoC, at least. Like Catacombs or something.
