Re: Amp for Baritone (possibly Bass VI)
Necro bumping !
So as a part of my awesome secret Satan gift, I got a DC Kunckle conversion neck. Laying it next to my Strat with the heels lined up, it seems to be 30 inches from the nut to where the bridge is.
Tomorrow, I'm trading a pedal for a blonde affinity tele. Being 30 inches, I could do the bass vi thing, but I think I wanna go more baritone and go A# to a#..because Boris.
So here's the rub. I have a Cr120h and a ppc412 with v30s. Wata tunes to A#(B-flat, whatev) and plays through an orange stack..
..so I should be good, right? I've never heard anything about her or even Takeshi reloading their orange cabs with bass speakers. Thoughts?
Also..who makes strings long enough for one of these things?

You're still not in low E bass territory. You should be good. Use your ears. But honestly I can't see it being a huge issue.CyaNitrate wrote:Necro bumping !

I play a 30" tele in drop c# through a 70's ampeg cab with guitar speakers and it sounds great. Those orange cabs should be fine with A#.
Also Kalium strings are backed hard. I use their .110 set and it's sick.

If you're not burning ridiculous volumes, should be fine - I've run my VI through a Mustang V with 4x12 and my Jazz Chorus without issue (and use the JC for bass practice half the time).
Have shaken picture frames off the wall more than once over the three years I've had it.

Thanks for the input guys. Got it set up and strung with D'Addario 12-60, cause those are the heaviest and longest strings I could get locally..the high A# only just reaches. I think I'll order strings next time, and probably a bit heavier, 65 or so. And it sounds awesome. Pics later, probably in another thread.

Inb4 circle k/la bella for strings.
But actually, that's probably good advice I think many of the VI guys order from there.

I'm a heretic, I like the Fender/D'addario ones.
Wish they still made the stainless ones though.

It sounds so good. Still probably gonna swap pickups, but it's good for now. I wish the wood colors matched closer, but it's not bad at all. And I like the blonde far better than a solid color for this thing.
