Has anyone tried the Keeley Oxblood?

Post by GAS KING »

I know this isn't usually iheartfuzzes type of pedal, but I'm really digging the demo vids.
People have said it's klon based, but I'm pretty sure it isn't? different type of mid boosted OD......sure.

I don't play this type of music, but I dig the honky overdrive gritty type sound.

As far as the Oxblood goes, I've seen nothing but praise from people who bought them. In my own experience with Keeley (30ms, Magnetic Echo), I've had an overwhelmingly positive experience. I'm not a Klon expert, and I roll my eyes at the studio gunslinger wannabes, but there's nothing wrong with appreciating transparent overdrives---you can still stack them with fuzz. :hello:

It's my understanding that the Oxblood is supposed to function like a Klon (clean boost/transparent overdrive), but not actually be based off the Klon circuit. I think Tripps was doing something similar with the Way Huge Saucy box----trying to capitalize on the success of the Klon design concept, without necessarily creating another Klon derivative. There's definitely some budget-friendly boxes that cover similar territory.

In a blind sound test, how many people would pick the $49.99 Mojomojo? ---Maybe 45-55% of guitarists?
