Line 6 mm4

Post by bdunlap »

Opinions? My board is cluttered as it is, it would be nice to have all the effects in one pedal so that I don't need seperate pedals for phaser, opto trem, ring mod, etc.

Opinions on this? Should I just follow through with getting seperate pedals? :idk:

It depends what you'd use it for.
The chorus, flanger, and rotary models are absolute balls, so if you use any of those effects you'll want separate pedals for them.
The tremolo is decent; it's really versatile but there are some tremolo settings where you get some volume drop.
The ring mod and phasers are nice.
And finally the Univibe setting is fantastic. Very warm sounding; I have two of the presets dedicated to univibe settings.

I already have chorus and flanger pedals, I was mostly in it for the ring mod, opto trem, and phasers. I think I'm just gonna go through with buying all the single pedals I want, better to have exactly the sound I want than settle for something less than quality for $240

I'm a fan of the MM4, but even more so of the M9. It all comes down to deciding if you want a one stop shop that has everything and does it pretty well with some quirks or a nice setup of individual pedals in which each does its job exceedingly well. There are plenty of small footprint mod/filter pedals out there and if you use a true bypass strip you can put some of them under your pedalboard (if you leave them on a consistent setting) and just engage them with the loop. I do that with some of my OD pedals.

Best of luck to you!

I have been using the MM4 & DL4 for like 3-4 years. (bought them at the same time)
DL4 has been on my board like forever but the MM4 has been collecting dust for quite a while...
I do use it for an occasional jam but that's pretty much it.

i do agree with 123 pull out about the ring mods & the tremolos, they are the only things i use on it.
and it's kinda handy to have one pedal to do it all. (don't forget you can have an expression pedal, so it's 8 presets ((not quite))!!!)

BUT!

what if you want to put a Ring Mod before your Fuzz and a Phaser right after your Fuzz????? :idk:

if you are not too fuzzy about your signal chain the M9 or MM4 is worth trying
but in the end, i guess most of us here end up buying single stompboxes... i don't know why, but hey! why not!
