Scroll quite a ways down to access the Maxon and Ibanez section. After reviewing the info again, based on specs, the RI could actually be more like a V2 850 than the V3, the latter of which is supposed to be identical to the 60's Fuzz. My bad. :erm:
i'll get my hands on a reissue eventually and check the circuit out. just finishing up writing a blog post on the OD-801 and D&S varians from Maxon so this will likely overlap with that.
If I remember correct, that same article is also where I read that the Ibanez '60s fuzz (soundtank series) is similar (if not identical) to the D&S version I've got.
The 60s fuzz has a led and DC bus and can be bought cheap, but it's got the tiny plastic controls and annoying flimsy enclosure and switch...:idk:
i haven't seen the insides of the soundtank one, but i know of at least 3 pedals that use the exact same circuit board from Maxon so it wouldn't shock me.

I took apart a Soundtank FZ-5 to fix it, it did not have nearly as much wiring in it as that pic of the OD850 RI, which in itself doesn't mean anything, but, yeah, I don't know what the point of my post is. :idk:
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

I read somewhere that the tone stack on these is somehow different than the standard muff tone stack. Can anybody confirm?

The OD850 RI is less scooped than a stock Big Muff and has significantly more saturation on tap. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, it falls somewhere between a Civil War Muff and Roland AF-100 Bee Baa in terms of tone and texture. If you're looking for more technical info, the above-mentioned Kitrae link may be worth exploring. I posted a brief clip on Soundcloud that features my preferred settings, and better YouTube demos have probably been uploaded in recent months.

Has anyone directly compared the mini and full-sized 850 RIs at this point? I'm wondering if there are any tonal differences.

That's what I read about about my old D&S too, which may confirm that they may be identical-ish :idk:

More saturation, better useable tone control. That's my non-technical way of explaning how the differences sound to me.
Still haven't tried this OD850ri. Probably won't happen either, even my D&S got flipped cause I always favoured my other fuzzes...:idk:

Bumping this to see if there have been any more experiences with it...the mini version more specifically. One popped up pretty cheap locally and I'm still interested :snax:
