Slim keys, same as the Minilogue. So, a step up from minikeys at least.popvulture wrote:I don't know, man... this thing sounds pretty rude. Could end up hocking my Bass Station for one of these. The convenience of the sequencer buttons is a huge bonus, plus are those normal size keys? They look like it, or almost.

100 presets = big advantage over the Minibrute & the Microbrute

Yep. This definitely looks superior to me for that and the sequencer alone.

No, these are the same keys like that of the MS-20 mini or the minilogue. I would rather like to have a full-size version. The keys are a bit too small for me as a piano/keyboard/organ player. Always feels a bit strange whenever I play on my MS-20 mini.popvulture wrote:are those normal size keys? They look like it, or almost.

Same, but it's less annoying to me on a monosynth. Once I start playing chords, it drives me a little crazy.Pepe wrote:No, these are the same keys like that of the MS-20 mini or the minilogue. Re: Possible new Korg polysynth?
I'm not saying they owe anybody anything. This falls in a weird place between the Volca Keys and the Minilogue. For about half the price you can have polyphony, fewer options for sound sculpting, and a lot more options for motion sequencing; and for about 60% more you can have a lot more options for polyphony and deeper sound sculpting, but have to deal with a flimsier filter, lfo, and sequencer. It's just a weird product given the hype, their lineup, and what they're competing with? I just expected more from Korg....askashrub wrote:Damn dude.wfs1234 wrote:It's like they took all the things that should've been included in the minilogue, and, instead of realeasing a bigger synth with those added on, they released an uglier overpriced synth with only those features. $300 I'd rather buy a microbrute
I was hoping for some kind of Korg eurorack synth module, like the mother 32 or lifeforms but the cooler Korg version.
May not be what you wanted but that's severe.

I own (and love) a microbrute.
This seems better (or at least quite different).
And Korg doesn't owe anybody anything when it comes to the Minilogue.
That thing was so cheap it was almost kind.

Demos sound really good. I could see this being my first hardware synth.

Microtuning, sequenced wave-shaping... That's the sort of stuff that used to force you to get into modular. And the built-in oscilloscope!!! I know some of it is old from the minilogue, but it's still next-level.
I bet if these do well, Korg will combine these features with the minilogue for some super analogue polysynth. If that happens, I might just sell some modular for it.

Minilogue is doing pretty well, which is why putting out a mono instead of "some super analogue polysynth" seems like a step backwards. Gotta hit a reasonable price point for the target demographic I guess?Bartimaeus wrote:Microtuning, sequenced wave-shaping... That's the sort of stuff that used to force you to get into modular. I'm not sure if there's still a huge wait time to get a minilogue but I ordered mine in May and got it in July. There's definitely no shortage of demand for the minilogue.spacelordmother wrote:Minilogue is doing pretty well, which is why putting out a mono instead of "some super analogue polysynth" seems like a step backwards. Also, a lot of these new features seem like they could be added to the minilogue with a firmware update. You can change the tuning on the minilogue as well. It'd just be a matter of tweaking the software a little to get micro tunings instead of just shifting the normal scale around. Same goes for the new sequencing features. The only things you can't add are the changes to the actual synth voice.

Re: Possible new Korg polysynth?
I would buy a mini- or monologue if KORG produces them in a limited full-size-key version. Or I would build it together myself if they do it the MS-20 Kit way.

Re: Possible new Korg polysynth?
No need for this right now as the minilogue is next on my list. Just picked up a volca FM and it is soooo nice. Fits in perfect with my bass station 2.
I think the monologue could be nice for some 303 style lines with the slide function. I really wish they would make a bigger FM synth with more parameter control however.

Re: Possible new Korg polysynth?
The KORG DS-8 from the '80s is a good FM synth with a great parameter menu which makes it almost as easy to program as an analog synth. 4 OP only, shares a lot with the Yamaha DX-27, but with a good (Yamaha) keyboard with velocity and aftertouch. I can only recommend this nice fella. I have one and my son Julian simply loves it, too (there's a video at YouTube where he demonstrates his own wacky programsD Rock wrote:I really wish they would make a bigger FM synth with more parameter control however.
