Scratch-y Wah
So I have a Joe Gagan Betty Wah that I won on here a few years ago. I honestly haven't really played it in years. I was finally inspired to plug it in today and found it all scratch-y. As in when I turn it on I get a bunch of static when I sweep it.
I know Joe is a stand-up dude (and used to hang out here sometimes) and would fix it himself, but if it's something easy to fix myself I'd rather just try it myself rather than ship it out.
So how do I go about fixing it? Or should I just contact Joe?

Yeah, a can of Deoxit or other reputable electronics cleaner pays for itself. I recently cleaned out my wah pedal.
You want a formula that leaves a lubricating film, some stuff completely evaporates and is only good for contacts & tube sockets.

I opened it up and used some compressed air in it. It was fairly dusty, but that didn't do anything.frigid midget wrote:Have you tried cleaning the pot?
Looked up how to clean a pot and I see that I need contact cleaner, so I guess I'll have to go grab some of that sometime.

Having to replace wah pots is not uncommon at all, but definitely definitely get some Deoxit before you consider anything like that. That shit works wonders.

Deoxit Faderlube is what you want for this app IMO.

The times I have "fixed" pedals by just deoxing pots. It totally worths to have Deoxit around.

i'll send you a pot! i need to know what is in it , but it will be a more durable replacement that won't change the tone. can you take a shot of the interior?
