We had someone flip out at us because I wouldn't promise him the first two Silver Rose v2s that we built. It was so bizarre.
So, no I don't give a fuck about serial numbers.

The detective skills/reading comprehension on this board never fails to annoy/amuse me.
Considering that the seller is listed as Jack Deville Ltd, based in Portland OR, then I feel fairly comfortable with my assessment that this is a good-natured Jack prank. Of course, Jack may also be trying to raise nine grand for cancer research and/or a robotic chef. If so, good luck to him.

They still show recent sales in the price guide, including the original list price vs. actual final sale price.DRodriguez wrote:Unrelated, does anyone else hate that reverb no longer shows sold listings? Just helps drive up prices when they hide what things were listed at when they actually sold.

That's super weird.aens_wife wrote:We had someone flip out at us because I wouldn't promise him the first two Silver Rose v2s that we built. It was so bizarre.
I'd understanding the mentality of someone wanting those, but demanding like that is excessive. I'd probably say sure, but charge a significant premium.
Yeah, but the price guide does not contain every product that's sold and gives no accurate indication of the quality of the item.popvulture wrote:They still show recent sales in the price guide, including the original list price vs. actual final sale price.

A price guide is not a cure for asymmetry of information because it's extremely incomplete. Version? Condition? Options? Stuff included with the item that was sold? Did it sell locally or was S&H included in the price?
Good deals: OsbornKT, Phantasmagorovich, UglyCasanova, DarkAxel, Skip, D.o.S, ColdBrightSunlight, Eivind August, Goroth

You can find the archived listings via Chrome.DRodriguez wrote:Yeah, but the price guide does not contain every product that's sold and gives no accurate indication of the quality of the item.
Typing "tracer city" site:Reverb.com into the address/search bar got me the 4 TC's that sold on Reverb in the past year in just a few seconds. I think the commands are similar for Safari as well.

Isn't that Jack selling it? LOL!!!
He does shit like that. I don't think he plans on actually selling it. He's just a quirky guy that likes trolling like the rest of us.
To answer the actual question, in some cases yes. For instance, I wanted a low number Toneczar Vault because the circuit has been altered over the years and the voicing sounds better with bass in the lower serial number boxes. I happened to find #3 and I didn't pay above what I would normally, but I did want that low number, so I might have.

I might pay more for an earlier version of a pedal (like a seppuku memory loss), but not for a number...unless that number is 69

Haha I thought of this too.Disarm D'arcy wrote:Or 8008
But yeah, I get how a serial can indicate an earlier, un futzed-with circuit or something, but I think for a lot of these boners it's just the squee-factor of having a low number, which is some total mouthbreather BS.
And good point about the Price Guide not providing enough info, but I do find it at least somewhat useful. I wish they had searchable completed listings like eBay though... that's the one thing I do miss.

Unless it's 002, 420 or 666, I wouldn't.

Unless it was something I personally owned before, nope.
I'd pay a huge premium for my old RE-301.
