I got a MkIII silicon diode Tonebender - low notes don't 'crap out' when you play them fast, like they do on a lot of fuzzes - they keep clear. And you don't have to mess with 'clean mix' or all of that nonsense....big jilm wrote:Tone bender mk I

Re: Fuzzes that retain note definition
I was gonna say blunderbuss surprisingly has a lot of note definition (for a muff), but I mostly want to agree with people saying either algal bloom (buy mine psst) or clean blend

The crimson drive while not a fuzz, has some fuzzy characteristics with great note definition.

I came in to say Tonebenders are my fave of the big 3 for that very reason, awesome note clarity. I have a switchable germanium Mk I.V/Mk II Pro clone and it's my fave over both my Analog Man NKT275 White Dot Sunface and my BAT LSTR by a good margin.

Agreed, its live having 3 or 4 really good fuzz boxes in one package.frigid midget wrote:Another Clusterfuzz vote. Can be dialed in for a ton of completely different sounds . Not in the way all 3 knob overdrives are called 'versatile', the Clusterfuzz is litereally like have three or four fuzz boxes in one package.
I had an Algal Bloom but we didn't get along, I always found it kinda shrill and thin sounding no matter how I set it. Clusterfuzz is the tits

I think that's the first time I've ever read anything slightly negative about the Algal Bloom
