Nifty pitch weirdness for synth shtuff?

Post by behndy »

sexy peoples,

doing a tiny pedals yarea to run synth and drums noises through, have distortion and fuzz and verb and delay covered, think i want a wiggly little Pitch Fuckery thing.

played with a Wizard of Pitch that i gave as an SS gift last year for a bit, realllly impressive shtuff.

any other suggestions?

hugs and/or kisses.

Well, the Boss PS-3 still kicks ass... And the dual detune mode on synths is great. Instant sound obesity.

Microbrute through a particle is pretty rad. CT5 kicks it as well.

Lol I didn't see who the OP was when I opened this and was going to suggest the wizard. Ct5 is super good for this sort of thing too.

Mid-Fi clari(not) is a fantastically wiggly squiggly worm on synths, less predictable results than the other suggestions here though.

Ct5 is good. PS-3/2 is also good. Something to consider is that older pedals are going to sound more "weird" than the modern day ones, arguably.
good deals are here.

mannnnnn the PS3 (i think? mebbe 2) is the first pedal i ever bought. back when i was a kicken, even worse on bass, and in a band where i had NO PLACE TO USE EFFECTS. never put in even one song. but LOVED IT.

do those go cheap? or are they unobtainium?

Dude, i think the Timebender is pretty unbeatable at this stuff. The tremolo mode can have pitch shifting too, including an arpeggiator.

A simple and bad video of that mode:

Yeah, was going to say Timebender. BitQuest has some cool pitch modes, but it might be overkill if those two modes are all you'll use.

I also love my Behringer Ultra-shifter. Does whammy, harmonizes, regular pitch shifting, detune, and a weird vibrato. I think it's a knockoff of the boss ps6, but in my experience it tracks better. Plus it's typically under $50 so why not.

They are pretty cheap (usually sub $100) and are fairly easy to find.

Eivind no mention oscillating fuzz? What is this world?

I ran my Yamaha CS01-II through the Blue fx Crash yesterday at a hip-hop jam, setting the oscillation to a low frequency then playing a high note and messing with the decay/sustain so the notes would snap to descending pitches. Also the Bit Commander after that sounded cool. The Wizard of Pitch was also involved, I often like to tweak that as I play. Don't really mind the noise. The murky EAR delay I like best on synth even adds (and maybe cuts the hi?) low hiss/whoosh, but the washiness is nice. At least with monophonic synth.

Still, I think I mustt get a PS-3/5 at some point.
