What sounds similar to ss/bs mini with low bias ?

Post by oscillateur »

Which other dirt pedals sound like the smallsoung/bigsound mini set to (very) low bias ?

I already have 2 minis (one for synths, one for guitar/bass) and it's by far my favourite overdrive/fuzz but nothing else I've tried so far does something similar to the low bias setting...

INFANEM Driving Notion is pretty cool for that sort of vibe I have to say.

Ah, good to know. This was one of the other pedals that interested me before getting the Minis.
I'll probably never have a chance to try one locally though...

They seem to go for $90 in bst pretty consistently, which isn't unreasonable :idk:

I replaced my mini, which I set to low bias all the time, with a super puzzle. forgot how I set the switches, but it's basically a saggy OD.. the octave is perfect for getting it over the top when you need it to be. I meant to sell it and buy another mini, but I'm actually loving it :) much more gain on tap as well
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

Just to be sure I'm following...The super puzzle isn't being made anymore, is it? So did it get replaced by the buzzz, which is also superfuzz inspired?

Yep, only the Buzz is even more brutal, it can do those saggy overdrive tones too though.

Buzzz and mini both rule

So does the driving notion, although I don't think of it being super close to the mini

No, the Driving Notion is more nasty and grindy I'd say.
I think it's my favourite dirt pedal that is no fuzz yet is still a bit out of the ordinary.

Buzz is a great pedal, does great füzz and overdrive. It's a good complement to the mini.

YES! Totally understand why you're hungry for more of that sound. I'm obsessed with the low bias sound that the Mini has! I'll describe the settings to other people I know who have a Mini and they look at me like I'm fucked. I have to believe that they haven't bothered to try it. It kicks SO much ass!! Especially when they're last in the chain and being fed a cacophony of sounds
  :yay:

If it's any consolation, I don't see anything wrong with owning three :idk:
